My buddy finished his swap of a L67 3800 3.8 Series II Supercharged motor into his 1987 Pontiac 6000 LE (base model). It came out of a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi. Upgraded from the 2.8 MPFI 130hp to 240hp. The video is right after the motor was swapped into the car. He says its pretty quick, but has already pulled the motor to go into an 88 Pontiac 6000. The other one has massive rust in the rear, that he thought he could save, but its just too much. Before it goes back in though, he is going to build up the motor. He plans to push over 350hp by the time he is done with it. Being these cars only weight around 2800lbs for a 4 door, it should be a pretty quick car. Below is the video of the car, and picture of the install. The motor in the engine bay, looks like it should have came stock from GM. I true sleeper I might say.
He is helping me out right now, to get my project started with my Eurosport.

My first car was a 1989 Pontiac 6000 LE. It was a solid car but very much grandma'ish and slow.
I guess I should have slapped something big into the engine bay for giggles.

No that car is not AWD. The LE (light edition I guess) is the base model Pontiac 6000. The Pontiac 6000 STE (Special Touring Edition) came stock with AWD, factory 4 wheel disc brakes (only body style with rear disc brakes). Some S/E (middle model) came with AWD.

These cars are so cheap today, and as long as you change the oil, they sure as well last. My 88 Eurosport has 224K original miles on it. And yes that’s with the original motor. It runs like it has 20K on it. My 88 Ciera XC has the limited 3.8 SFI motor, and that thing gets up and goes. Its kind of funny because it looks like a grandma’s car, but once I give that thing some gas, its gone. The 3.8 motor that is in that car, is the same motor they used in the Buick Grand Nationals (3.8 SFI Turbo). Being this car has lower miles, I want to drop the 3800 SC II into my Eurosport. Also being I upgraded the car to 4 wheel heavy duty brakes, sport suspension and steering, its more setup for my 3800 Swap. I can handle swapping the motor in (the motor drops right in with stock GM parts) its just trying to get an OBD-II engine to work in a pre-OBD car... Anyone good with computer PCM wiring?
What I man do later after I do the 3800 SC swap into my Eurosport. I may try to swap in the new FWD LS4 V8 motor GM has come out with. 303hp to start with, is not too bad. That would go into my Ciera.
Some may say, why these type of cars. I like to be different. It just seems a lot of people like to go with Honda Civic's, or Chevy Camaros. They are great cars, but I just want to try something different for a change. I like these cars because they are really reliable. Surprisingly, it’s a light weight 2600-2800lbs 4 door car, with a massive engine bay, and very large trunk. Being these cars are so cheap, might as well pick one up, and swap a motor into it.
So I hope my swap works out alright, and hope someone with wiring skills can maybe give me some tips or possible come help me one day.

If it has the 3300 or 3.8, they are REALLY quick sleepers. GM got cheaper with these cars in 94-96. And they swapped in the smaller 3100 motor, which is an alright motor, but in these cars, just a big drop in the displacement.

Oh yeah, when the guy is taking off, he isn't giving the car WOT... When he does that, he doesn't get any traction.

Was the car a 2.5 4 cylinder, or 2.8/3.1 V6?

I have a friend with the AWD version. Perhaps i could talk him into trying the same swap. 350hp to the flywheel or to the wheels?

Is your buddies an STE or S/E. If its an STE, tell him to hold onto that car. They only made about alittle over 1,000 of those cars a year, started in 1988. If he plans to trash it, I pick it up. They go on ebay for a good amont of money, even over the retail value. The only problem I could see with trying to install a bigger motor into the AWD model is, they used the 3 speed transmissions with those AWD cars. The 4 speed ones would not fit with the AWD rear axle. Also you would deff have to upgrade the rear axle assembly, to handle the power. He is going for 350 to the ground. However knowing him, he will somehow get more then that.. he is a crazy guy.

I want to say it's an STE, but i'm not sure. Kinda beat up but it's still a solid car. If he's planning on getting rid of it I'll let you know.
And 350whp would be sweet in that car.

Yeah those 3.3 3300 motors are great. They are solid motors. They are based right off the 3800 motor, but detuned. GM only made that motor 3 years (90-93) because the motor was "too" reliable. They weren't making there motor back on the repairs and stuff, because the motors just did not really break down... its kind of funny. I think that is why they came out with the 3100. I see alot more of those at the junkyards, then the 3300.

Haha, that is too funny cause I use to always think how the hell my mother-in-laws car could run for so long considering they never bothered to take care of the maintenance stuff on it for so long.
They eventually had to replace the motor close to 150k cause they overheated it really bad at one point. I know it definitely isn't the motor's fault when it runs out of coolant, overheats and blows a headgasket mixes coolant and then kills bearings.

Yeah really any motor, if you never take care of it, will break down over time. My one buddy had one of these cars, and it too had high miles on it. However he used it as an off-roader, and it got so much mud on the radiator, it couldn't cool the motor down, He drove the car 3 times while the temp gauge was pinned over 300 degree's. Finally the 4th time.. it locked up. But 300+ is just so hot for a motor to run.
