People who aren't really into cars may not grasp the true power of your car when you say "XXX WHP". If they're comparing that to crank HP then they are underestimating you, so for reference it may be good to just put it into noob terms for them.
Kinda reads like a Mustang dyno.
Post up results to see if this thing is somewhat accurate. You'll have to know the advertised HP from the factory and your stock dyno results.
After doing a quick google, Mustang dyno's read 11-12% lower than Dynojets.
1. 08 Evo X rated at 295 bhp from the factory
2. Base dyno at 255 WHP on a Dynojet
2b. 255-255(.12)=225.4
3. calculator=223 WHP
seems correct.

Cool find! One question though, correct me if I'm wrong.....but for AWD, don't different cars have much different drivetrain losses?
If that's the case a calculator really isnt very accurate.
Obviously 450 AWHP in a GTR is much different then 450 AWHP then an STi.

Stock HP rating... minus 15% = whp. Done and done.
I dont need a caluculator to tell me im making 15% less than jack ****.

I already knew my car was slow..but now im depressed.

It seems really optimistic for my car. According to that and my car's results stock on a Mustang Dyno, its under rated by 25 HP, which I'm sure isn't true.

Hmm, says my car is 538hp at the crank. Now sure about the "four wheel" drive option though.
EDIT: looks like they are giving Four Wheel drive cars ~18%, prolly about right

I know 3000GTs lose close to 60hp-70hp in stock trim through the drive train. Mainly due to how freaking heavy the stock driveshaft is. ~60lbs.

Back when I was 325whp. 372 at the crank says it.

This isn't actually completely true. It's a really vague estimate and there are variations from car to car, dyno to dyno, so it's kind of tough to say everyone looses 15-18%. I'll try to find the article I read on it.

i did those calculations based on my RWHP and it was a 15% increase to crank power....or 14.9992% increase to be exact. there will allways be variations but generally its a pretty good guestimate when you go with the 15-18%.

thats sweet that means 352whp in my rwd is 411 crank haha shibby

in reality, drivetrain loss will be different on different dynos. and Ive seen rwd cars that loose more the than awd cars. for example, subarus loose a relatively low amount compared to other awd cars (supposed to be 25%, subies are from like 17%-22%). in reality the numbers really mean very little. cool find tho

^I may be wrong with this, but I believe Subies are a heavy RWD bias, which would explain that.

"543hp at the crank"
eh, i always just say what i made in whp. every dyno is different and everyones car loses a different amount in the drivetrain, so it's not that accurate of a calculator. not to mention the variability of a dyno pull depending on gear, temperature, and humidity.

Most but not all trans have a 1:1 gear... typically the gear used.

Says mine is 790 bhp, probably pretty close. The only way to know is put an engine on an engine dyno, then a chassis dyno and see the loss. but either way, dynos are not an absolute value.

Power is largely superficial anyway. Power/weight is what makes a car accelerate well, and the driver determines wether the car is fast or not.

BHP= WHP/percentage of power that makes it to the wheels, when factoring in drivetrain loss.
For example I dynoed at 403hp/437 tq.
403/.85=474 crank hp
437/.85=514 tq.
I've sadly never met anyone who didn't simply take 400 and ad 60ish or so to get 460. Its simple math.

Alright 400 crank minus the 4 degrees we took out so I'm over the stock factory amount awesome lol

182 hp factory = 150 whp on that calc stock
450 crank power to 386 whp

The first time I ever dyno'd the Baja it's baseline was 177 AWHP and the factory rating from the brochure at the dealer was 210 at the crank.
This is roughly 19 percent loss if my math is right.
The pull was on a Dynapak. No wheels seemed like cheating at the time, but the power LOSS was most likely a more accurate percentage without them.
The Baja did 340 the last time it was on the rollers. (Dynojet) If I multiply that by 1.19 it comes out to 404.6 round up :) to 405.
The calculator guesstimated 417.
12 AWHP difference.
Pretty damn close in my book.

Power is largely superficial anyway. Power/weight is what makes a car accelerate well, and the driver determines wether the car is fast or not.
You're forgetting gearing. And you need traction to use accelerate anywhere. And the fact that a little thing known as aerodynamics is eventually going to not give a **** what your power/weight ratio is.

my car is rated 82whp
and it ran a 16.9 @ 80
88 to the crank = 63 to the wheels
