The aluminum block can handle well over 1,000 horsepower and the DOHC motor responds really well to boost because it's overvalved from the factory. The 8.8 rear is very strong and stupidly cheap to build up, with the twin 61's I've seen 1,200 horses on 20 - 30 psi, and gutted/lightened the car will get down to around 2,500 pounds pretty easily. It's not like the cars are expensive either, I got mine for 5,500 and I've seen plenty of others selling for 6-7k or so.
Where are you buying a twin 61mm turbo setup for 5 grand?

lets just compare build material.

now when you say 240 engine im going to assume you are talking about an sr20.

240 engine (sr20) = aluminum block
WRX engine/sti = alumium block with sleeves just like your typical honda engine and the sr20, wanna run some good power threw it your def going to need resleeving etc etc... not to mention the wrx/sti engine you might as well say has 2 blocks

now lets look at the 4g63 block alone, solid iron, which one you think will take more power and boost on a completely stock block? lets face it getting ur motor resleeved/machined only adds to that 15,000 dollar limit.

why you think all our iron block imports handle boost soo well? the vr-4, the 300ZX, DSM, supra, mr2? iron blocks bro.

fastest 1/4mile 240 doesnt even use an sr20, its got the KA in it for the sheerfact that its full iron.

the sr is NOT a bad moto at all, for the average tuner its better than the KA because its already a motor prepared for boost stock, but when we are talking CRAZY high HP, the KA is much better stock block for stock block.

But lets face it 80% of the people building 240s build them for drifting anyways, nobody needs a 900HP engine to drift running 35PSI. I don't drift or anything but I'm sure that having between 300 to 350 is more than an ample amount of power to have a nice drift car.

If I would build a drift 240, it would have to have 1300hp.

That's what the HPP kit used to cost, looks like now the price has gone up to 6 and some change

Adapter plate is only 150 bucks lol. Can get a starion for 500 bucks, but that falls out of the "factory" perspective.
The trans I definitely forgot about, but the 5k for suspension and rear end could easily cover that and wheels because I was being super generous, all it actually needs is a 31 spline diff and matching axles to hold up, the fuel system upgrades are a part of the turdbo kit and these cars don't need any fancy computer controlled engine management crap, a few hours on John Lund's dyno and a tune is loaded into the factory ECU that will be daily drivable. At one time long ago in a galaxy far away I was into the straight line how fast do you want to spend thing, but it's been a while and luckily I saw the light before I started blowing money on that stuff because spending money to improve my driving and making cars corner is much more fun

If that's a hyundai 2.0 motor they're 136hp stock. Don't make it sound any more pitiful then it already is.

89-91 hyundai sonata came with a g4cs single overhead cam 2.4. They used the same casting as the 4g63 block. The careful mending of a set of pistons made with lower wrist pins, rods are generic 4g63 rods since they are the same, and 94 galant gs cam gears/timing belt to run the 4g63 head, and BAM! Block also comes in the mitsu expo vans, which is the 2.4 wideblock, starion factory trans bolts right to the block if you wanna do a 2.4 4g63 rear wheel drive setup, 85-87 galant gs engine code g64b, and acouple other various cars.
