That's what I meant, when building to the limit the car with the bigger motor will be faster.

Nope. In the big picture, your 4cyl is no different than a 4 cyl in a 240 or a subaru. Still a 4cyl. For instance, you take a dsm expert and give him 15k to build it. Take a LS1 expert and give him 15k to build it. You will loose everytime. The V8 is starting off with more cubes and more power stock right out the gate. Take your dsm stock, even with the stock turbo and you still have to spend $$$ just to get your car to make the same power the LS1 does stock.

Well its still questionable. I know a stock dsm with the stock turbo, cams 250-450, 100 dollar downpipe, 60 dollar fuel pump, even the stock clutch will go 12.1s even 11.9s@ 112-115 right there if you find a dsm for 1k running, and put 400 bucks in it would be rediculous. I know my motor cost me 3000 said and done to build. Get a turbo prob like a pte 6262 which is the new hotness 900, dsmlink or aem 700-1000, trans 2k (cheaper if you do it yourself), clutch 500-1000, intercooler/pipes 400, and a nitrous kit 400-500 with a good tune and it will be mid to low 9s. Even right there your under 10k which is still only over 2-4k over what you could pay for a ls1 platform to begin with. Plus you need to do a rear in the ls1 platform because they break, so theres another stitch.

Not saying dsms are better, or more of the motor its self, im saying it would be the car to prob beat, tie, or close to beat pretty much any car dollar for dollar done right. Even a fox body, once you get in the 500 550hp range the valley will crack on the block. My buddys turbo fox went 10.01s@134 and he split the valley. 4g63s are making 1000+hp before having to cement fill the block. So now you gotta buy a block for the mustang to even start, which if you were to stip a contest "having to use the stock factory motor it came with" would automatically FAIL! lol.

Now that I think about it, an SN-95 Cobra could be stupid fast with a 15k budget, 5k for the twin 61 turdbo kit, 5k to forge the motor with all the best crap, and 5k for suspension and a built rear. The aluminum block can handle well over 1,000 horsepower and the DOHC motor responds really well to boost because it's overvalved from the factory. The 8.8 rear is very strong and stupidly cheap to build up, with the twin 61's I've seen 1,200 horses on 20 - 30 psi, and gutted/lightened the car will get down to around 2,500 pounds pretty easily. It's not like the cars are expensive either, I got mine for 5,500 and I've seen plenty of others selling for 6-7k or so.

Well then if it was 5,500 it only leaves you 9,500 for parts. Even if you did do that list, your forgetting slicks/wheels, engine management, fuel system. So theres another 2k+, and what about the trans/clutch? Common guys!!! Figure a car/motor out dollar for dollar. I could do a Starion with a 4g63 swap, th350 or a glide. Adapter plate is only 150 bucks lol. Can get a starion for 500 bucks, but that falls out of the "factory" perspective.

Could just buy a bike and dump money into it... How big the engine doesnt really matter if the vehicle its attacted to is light enough. Of course it would be instant death but it would be one hell of a ride.

Theres always going to be someone somewhere faster then you no matter what you have or have put into it.

Also i guess im putting to much thought into your discussion but all dragsters are V8's, why? Cause its the best platform. Mmmmm Top fuel nom nom nom
