Installing new turbo stainless oil feed line. 87-88 RX7 T2

My stock oil feed line was starting to leak where the line meets the flange on the turbo so I decided to replace it with some -4AN lines and fittings. -4AN is a little over kill but I don't give a ****.

The parts your going to need are.

1 -4an to 12mmx1.5 adapter. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

1 -4an to 1/4 NPT 45d egree adapter. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

1 -4an hose end. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

1 -4an 90 degree hose end. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

3 feet of -4an braided hose. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

1 Turbo oil flange adapter. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...5849110&rd=1,1

You only need about 1.5 feet of hose, but I'll just hold on to the extra. You also don't have to use -4an parts. You can also use -3an with a 1/8 flange adapter for the turbo. You will just to have to see what is better for your needs. Some turbo's also require you use a restrictor. I didn't use one because my hybrid doesn't need one.

The old oil feed line and the leak. Can you say possible fire hazard.

The stock feed location. It used a banjo bolt fitting.

I started with installing the flange and the 45 degree -4AN adapter. You can use a little bit of Teflon tape to get it threaded all the way down. Teflon is used as a lubricant not a sealant. When I installed the flange I cut my own gasket out using gasket material you can get at any hardware store and I used a little bit of RTV. You can also buy them anywhere that sells turbo accessories. Removing the intercooler pipe makes it easier to work also.

Then I went ahead and put a a straight hose adapter unto to the braided line.

Installing hose ends is the hard part of this. Start by cutting the line to give you a fresh end to work with. First I wrap the line in some tape very tightly. Then I stick it in a vice, put it in the vice to where the edge of the vice acts like a straight edge to help you cut the line.

When you cut it make sure you do it slow and straight as possible. You don't want a bunch of braids frayed out or your going to have a hard time slipping the sleeve over it.

Take your hose end apart and slip the sleeve over the hose. This can get very hard. You kinda have to push and turn the fitting at the same time to get that fitting on there. I used a wrench to help me. Then you stick the nipple into the sleeve/hose and thread it in. Thread it until it bottoms out. I used 2 wrenches for that.

Now just stick your new hose end unto the turbo loosely so that you can get your length to the other fitting

Now install your -4an to 12mm x 1.5 adapter. Make sure you use a new crush washer. You can get away with using the old one though.

Next your 90 degree hose end. Don't tighten it down. This is just for measurement.

Now bring you hose over and mark it so that you can cut it. I left mine a little long just in case I want to go to a different turbo sometime.

Follow the instructions above for cutting and attaching hose end

Flush the line of any metal shavings. Now just attach your hose and tighten down the ends and you should be done. Make sure you prime your oil system and check for leaks.
