I love the idea! Just wish I had a garage, project car, and money to participate with.

ha i've been talking about doing something like this for a while now but didnt seriously pursue it. the only difference i was going to have was for their to be teams and for there to be a VERY strict budget... like teams of 2 or teams of 4 or something and a budget of $1000 or $2000 total including car, and you've got to start from scratch. i thought that'd be cool... i believe that grassroots motorsports does something like that, i just wasnt sure if TST guys would be interested in putting in the extra time and money to do this.

or if we go with your path, i'm already in... rebuilding this winter and documenting the entire thing including costs.

Ya myself included. I know a lot of people who are taking their car apart and starting all over again. I doubt we would get a shootout like grassroots motorsports because that just takes way too much and for a forum like this I doubt there is the type of person to do such a thing. I believe it is bring what you built and let the winner take all

The money part is as described in Sport compact car.....a Point value given to a car with this in mind.

CAn you buy an STI for 30K and leave it stock, or built (in your case) a galant VR4 for the price of the car used lets say 10k and put 20k into it and make it a better car.

On the same token, people with STI's put 20k into their car it would be a better car hands down then puttin 20k into my civic.

Its just a way to ration out money spent v performance....

Full write up to come soon (on competition and details)

I have to find out events dates, times in order to give everyone notice to sign up and be a part. Once we get enough people interested there will be posts in the upcoming events section that there is an USCC event for TST coming up and it should give everyone enough time to plan.

Finally if anyone wants to get in on the planning with me ::cough cough:: POCKET ROCKET ::Cough cough:: so that its more then one background and experience putting something like this together then I would probably be able to get my feet on the ground. PM me, let me know, and i will start looking into everything.

While I would love to say that this isnt about money if you cant afford the events I would reccomend you not participating. This is a competition to see who can make the most of what they got and unfortunately money does play a part in the road course/drag racing/show section. Im not discouraging anyone from joining the event, but I think to be fair for everyone it will be a type of "application" event where we will get people to submit mods, and car selection and select the top 10 closest competitiors.... let me know what everyone thinks

EDIT: and by this i mean that if the 10 closest competitors are hondas with stock motors and all suspension work then so be it---if its stis with a ton of work and NSXs and so forth thats fine too---we have a ferrari on the forum apparently if they would like to join what the hell---gives us all a goal....just no raced out vipers

This is the site I'm on that runs an event similar to this, in one weekend, and on a huge scale. Some serious cars come out there.

Well, just wanted to give you a place to fish around for some ideas. It is highly organized so it can help you out figuring this thing on how to run it.

I'd love to do something like the Grassroots Motorsports challenge. I think $2,000 and countless hours of labor into a car like that would be more satisfying than $2k spent on my Subaru. I've got a Fiat we could throw a rotary in

I can't say I have enough money to do a USCC-type thing, but I think it's an awesome idea and should be done. Surprised more people didn't bite yet.
