Infa-red SVT's 08 FJC -Roof Top Tent Ordered-

I traded my mazdaspeed 3 in on a 2008 FJC with 45k miles about 6 weeks ago. It did make sense to me to have two cars, when one was much faster than the other, also the road to my family farm has become impassable in a low or lowered car. (so there's my ****ty justification for this trade lol)

This is how it looked when I bought it:

Mods done by previous owner:

-ARB front bumper
-ARB Rear bumper
-ARB roof rack
-ARB touring awning
-Kaymar hi-lift & shovel mount
-IPF spot lights
-Snorkel & TRD intake
-TRD Exhaust
-Ricochet Skids
-OME Heavy lift
-Stock 17’s with bald 33x12.50’s

Testing out the awning:

Pics from the fjbruisers 9/10 "back to school event"

(I added a 1.5in spacer to clear the UCA's because the tires were rubbing)

I picked up a set of 16in wheelers off road wheels off craigslist for $250.
I ordered the 058 paint to match the roof from expresspaint and painted and cleared them.

I decided to go with 305/70/16 BFG MT KM2's because they are a little taller and narrower than the 33's and fit without the spacer and no rubbing at all. Not to mention how much quieter they are!

I just put a warn m8000 in the bumper, was a bit of a pain in the *** taking the bumper off...but it fit well

Thanks,

They are def not for everyone, I did not like them when they came out....but I think they look a little better when they have been built up. I like the jk unlimited rubicon but, they were still about 6-9k more than I could afford and my brother has one so, I thought I would go a different path

Overland Rally Vermont

Went up to the Overland Rally Vermont this past weekend from 9/28-10/2.

http://www.overlandrally.com/Overlan...Northeast.html

It was pretty cool, VT has a lot of class 4 roads that are open to the public and range from dirt roads to green and blue type trails. We took these trails for a few hours and stopped for lunch in Grafton, VT ( awesome old town), we went on for another two hours or so and ended up back at the farm that hosted the rally.

The rally itself was very informative and fun. I learned a lot about recovery from the "Overland Experts." http://www.overlandexperts.com/ They run a lot of cool trips all over the world, some with your own rig, others with rental defender 110's and the like.

I also got a good idea of what products are ones worth buying for the long run. Im going to be getting a roof top tent and it seems like Eezi-Awn makes the best stuff.

nice, its nice seeing these being used for trails and not by women who just want to daily drive them

they ride great, off road even better but blind spots suck with them

that van was awesome, theres a disabled guy that comes to my work alot, has a maroon econoline 4x4 diesel, never new they can diesel until i saw his. Got it lifted, tires/rims etc and aftermarket front and rear bumpers, and of couse a wheelchair lift. Those roof tents look pretty sick on both your trucks.

I know right, there were about 6 fjc's at this past event, I never see modded ones on the street. The massive rear blind spot is a pain, but it is easy to work around it, I find my self using all of the passenger windows when making a left turn haha.

Yea those vans are very expensive to buy built like that. The 4x4 conversion is pretty expensive as well; makes a 20k van a 35k van...but they look sweet built up.

Yea, steel wheels are the way to go if your not building a mall cruiser haha. Wheeling seems like a great thing to do with the kids...keeps them out of trouble and gets them interested early on.

I have not had to do much to the FJ as of late, other than respool my winch:

It served me well up at Jay Peak, VT when I went up with some buddies for a week of boarding. It saw a lot of the unplowed left lane for the first 100 miles of rt 90 on the way back.

Some pics from the top of Jay:

I just ordered a roof top tent from Rovers North, I never thought I would spend this much on a damn tent but it seems to be the best one on the market and I didn't want to buy a $1,300.00 tent every few years so I went for it. I got the series 3, 1400 tent (biggest I can fit with the ARB rack).

Eezi-Awn Series 3 1400 Roof Tent. The Series 3 1400 is the most popular size in the range, offering plenty of space for two and all the features you expect from Eezi Awn. A perfect size to mount facing the back or either side of most vehicles.
Specs.
Dimensions (closed) 48"L x 55"W x 11"H
Dimensions (open) 96"L x 55"W x 51"H
Dimensions (clearance) Add 2-3" to closed length and width for fabric and cover
Weight 128 lbs, including ladder
Mattress 2-1/2" fabric covered foam
Comparable width Double size bed
Color Beige
Options Ladder Extension, Shower Skirt

My brother went with the series 3, 1600 for his 4door jk rubicon, saved a few hundred on shipping because they can stack them on one pallet. I'll post up pics when they get in (about a week or so) and we get them mounted.

Awesome! My dad bought one of these when they first came out in 07', had all the options possible for the 07' model year. I loved that thing, but he ended up trading it in with 36k on it 2 years later.

Tons of great parts on it. Can't go wrong with OME and ARB!
