The NSX was based off the 1990 Pontiac Fiero Prototype?

If anyone has an interest in the Pontiac Fiero or Acura NSX, this is pretty crazy to consider. First off let me start off with the history of the Pontiac Fiero. They started making this car in 1984, and stopped production in 1988. In 1988 GM totally redid the entire cars suspension, frame, and braking system and made it into pretty darn good car. Well after all that work, they stopped production. Some say the reason why they did this, was because in the later years, it was going to kill the Chevy Corvette. GM would never have this happen. Well while the car was still in production, there was a 1990 Pontiac Fiero Protoype that was built. It looks like the prototype had an automatic transmission, and a 3.4 DOHC V6 motor that came in the GM cars in the early 90's. If the Fiero was still going to be made, the same body style would have been made until 1989, and the new design would take place in 1990. Well the funny thing is, I had a buddy come across some of those Protoype pictures, and guess what car looks just like it after Pontiac decided to scrape the project, the 1991 Acura NSX. If you look at both the cars, they look almost the same. Some even say the Toyota MR2 was copied off of this car as well. But I don't know too much about that. I really want an 88 Fiero GT, but an 86-88 will work as well. I hope one day I can find one that’s stick, and for a good deal.

I was always a huge fan of the Fiero. Good luck finding a nice late model well in great condition as they are highly sought after cars by kit-car builders.

I can kinda see the resembelance.

However, the 90 series NSX had been in almost IDENTICAL production testings since the mid to late 80s.
