anybody have a OBDII scanner to reset my CEL real quick?

hey does anybody have a OBDII scanner to reset my CEL real quick? I try to go to autozone and advance auto parts but it is against their policy to reset. I live in south philadelphia but willing to drive.

I been driving around for 3 days and the OD light still blinks 16 times when i start it. People been telling me i didnt properly reset the ECU so the code is still stored in the ecu even though i fix the problem.

Did you ground the wires to the chassis after you pulled the cables off the battery?

Yeah I could probably reset it for you if you bring it to me in norristown. But you can buy those little code readers and reset it yourself for like 30-40 bucks, and then you'll have your own for next time. I recently got a pretty nice one from mac tools that shows you a live data stream with things like fuel trims, o2 voltages, misfires, etc., for like 120 dollars.

You do realize resetting it does nothing but make the light go away? You still have a DTC stored in your ECU. The only way to get rid of it is to fix the problem and complete a certain drive cycle(s). Resetting the ECU will also make the code go away(and any stored DTCs), but it will most likely come back if you don't fix the problem. Also, your readiness monitors will be not ready until you complete the drives cycles needed by your ECU.

It'll clear the ecu. But yes if you have an actual problem it will be back shortly. Only thing I ever really reset is a random misfire from the light flywheel. Lucky for me I haven't really had one in a year or so but I do have two scanners to clear it with.

like everyone else said, if you clear your light it will just come right back on. if its on for OD then the tranns ecu (TCM) needs to be read by nissan with a consult 2 computer(dealer scan tool) or maybe the high end snap on verus or modis or scanners like that can read it as well. also the emissions readyness monitors will be reset and you'll have to complete several drive cycles with the vehical under load to reset them.
what is the actual code number being shown? if you gimme the code i can pull the info for you

i have an fsm for the 2003 nissan sentra and it cover all models. 02-03 are the same.

If you fixed the problem unplug your ecu & then pLug it back in. Drive for ~30 miles. Problem solved.

I just wanted to give you props...I've read a lot of posts you've made lately where you've offered up your time to help people out. I think that's pretty BA of you. Now please excuse me while I climb down off your nuts.

if you have a smartphone (android or Iphone) you can purchase an app called Torque....There's a free version and a pay version..its $5.99...you'll want that one.

go on ebay and purchase one of these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Bluet...motiveQ5fTools

for $25.00 you can do just about everything you need including some other very cool features. its like a Gtech pro with the ability to read scan and clear codes...IT also displays real time data with gauges etc. data logging is also available i believe.
