Aww I'm sorry...you can still open carry, you'll just be one of the few and far between to draw extra attention to yourself..might be a good idea since you've just about run out of jokes on TST

I can personally attest to never seeing a person open carry aside from security, etc.etc. because yea it's your right, but that doesn't mean you have to excersize it that way at any given time. Time and a place for everything. Salute to everyone who wants to carry and make sure the people there are safe, but OCing it will cause more trouble IMO and I'm not alone on this crazy idea.

you still don't get it.

people have different views on OC vs. CC... some pretty hardcore conflicting views even within the firearms community. that still doesn't change the fact that it's a person's right to carry how they wish, regardless of where they are.

what you're saying is exactly like me saying that i think it'd be much easier for pierced/tattooed spiky haired rocker looking people to just dress differently and cover themselves up on the day of a charity car meet just because it would make for a more pleasant atmosphere instead of making everyone feel like they're at some kind of death metal concert. if i said that, everyone would bash the hell out of me and tell me i'm an idiot and that people shouldn't have to change who they are just to bend to the whims of the people around them. the same applies to open carrying. whether you're comfortable with it or not, it's just the way it is. people OC whenever/wherever they want and it's really no big deal. just because you're outraged at the thought of OC, that doesn't mean everyone else is too. you're dead wrong about the majority of people being uncomfortable with OC. i'm sure there are lots of people who are, but not the majority of people. another thing you're wrong about is the drawing extra attention because of OC. sometimes, yes. most of the time though i rarely even get looked at. most people probably just think my gun is a pager or cell phone IF they notice anything at all. no one carries a neon orange weapon. things blend in and it's actually quite easy to go through an entire day of OC in public without even a second glance from anyone you see. there's a good chance i could OC all day at the meet and very few people would notice.

i'm with ASIAN JUL 100% on the subject. i make the personal choice to CC most of the time, but you have to look at it objectively. when you do, you realize how stupid it is on such a basic level to tell someone that they shouldn't OC.

Why not just make this a car show/gun rally? What goes together better than cars and guns? I know women holding guns while posing next to cars.

as a firm believer in the right to bear arms, i wont chastise anyone for carrying, reagrdless of time and place...but why open carry?? just seems like it might call attention to yourself that you really dont want. better to just concealed carry..no one knows you have it, and they really dont need to...but to each his own i guess

not trying to start/continue sh*t man, but that's seriously been the entire debate in this thread thus far. it's a personal choice. there's no reason TO open carry aside from the fact that you want to... the same as there's no reason to CC aside from the fact that you want to. PA allows both so it's just a personal choice. for some who OC, the attention they might get isn't a terrible thing. some can just shrug it off. as with my example above, what about crazily pierced people? surely it would save them some unwanted attentionto just NOT show their weird piercings or tattoos, but maybe they simply don't give two sh*ts.

i agree. we could make a medium distance rifle range across a few parking lots... bench rest sniper competition through the middle of a drift/scca race. the inside of walmart could be a tactical pistol course. sonic would love us and totally invite us there every year to host it. where do you buy insurance for such an event?

Hmm I work for Allstate but don't think that's something we would insure. I'm also all for O/C at the event.

meh, I don't see a reason you'd need to carry a gun at something like this, BUT I also don't own a gun lol... so I have no clue what could be the mindset.

Not saying its a bad mindset... I don't see an issue to CC.... not sure why you would ask though. I mean yes, you are being considerate, and the discussion is good in here, but why tell everyone you're going to have your gun on you?

I think TST should have an annual SONIC gun meet, and if you show up in a car people should call the cops.

since I don't own a gun I'll just wear a bulletproof vest and be prepared that way

This is how I feel as well.

If I see a gun I'd call the cops to just to be safe. You have the right to carry, I have the right to call and make sure your legit too. It is a 2 way street.
