RX-8 guys, help!
45k Miles 92/93 Octane always Conventional Castrol oil changes every 3k miles. AFE Shift Kit Mazdaspeed dual-canister exhaust Everything else is stock A couple weeks ago, I came to a stop at a light and noticed my idle was fluctuating from ~1000 to ~1600 back and forth. I could get it to stop (sometimes) by giving it a few good revs. This only seems to happen every so often; definitely not every time I drive my car. The higher revs i'm doing in attempts to get it to go back to normal. ;) Any idea's? It doesn't seem to be negatively affecting anything that I can tell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWUSp0fUBYQ I posted over at rx8club.com of course... http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=221410

are all of your plugs firing? the way its revving makes it sound like the engine internals are okay...
there are a couple things that the first few years of the rx8 had that were weird maintenance items. coil packs were one of them. it could be a vacuum leak, though doubtful. oil pressure good? air filter good? does the power delivery feel any different? no CEL? |
