Help...banging

Since installing the turbo back about a month ago, my car makes a sound i can only describe as banging whenever i downshift or let the car rev down from 3500. It sounds almost as if the downpipe is baning into the car...any thoughts? I've gone under several times and checked to make sure everything is tight. Yesterday coming home from work in bumper to bumper it started doing this a lot, I was ready to take it off when i got home, and then it just stopped....

Is the downpipe knocking on something? Examine the whole legnth of the pipe. If it is making contact anywhere, you should see some marks/scratches.

Have you checked the rest of the exhaust? A different downpipe and cause the catback to hang differently, and maybe that is whats banging?

They usually like to hit the rear diff housing because most TBE have flanges there that hit.

did you use the bracket that bolts the downpipe to the tranny? that would help to hold it in place but usually isnt necessary.
my first thought was the rear diff or rear axle as well, thats common and it can be a bad thing (i know).
did you reuse your stock heatshield or any heatshield? they vibrate sometimes, although its definitely not a banging.

The rear diff may be too far back for him to feel it banging under his left foot.

Check to see if your engine rocks alot when you rev it. It might be your engine mounts are worn. I know my engine mount are pretty bad so when I'm in traffic or turn off my car it makes my exhaust bang against my underbody. Just some food for thought.

The downpipe didn't have a tranny mount, so i couldn't reuse it. I didn't put any heat shields back on. But it's definetly a banging sound.

My catback hits my rear diff. It isn't the flange part, it is the resonator pipe...I think. Maybe it is the flange....I dunno. When I shut it off or sometimes when I downshift it hits and makes a metal rattle noise. It usually gets worst when it gets wet out.
