Timing belt/water pump replacement
Are there any shops in the Horsham area that you'd recommend to get this done? I'm trying to avoid the $800 quote I was given by the Mitsubishi I normally go to. PS: The car is a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer ES with 60,2xx miles.

For starters, 60k is the timing belt time... 100k is the water pump time
Of course, if youre leaking coolant than u may need to do the water pump as well. Go to any shop, they should charge you somewhere around 300 bucks to get the timing belt done.... if they are askin alot more then keep lookin |

The reason I want to go for the water pump too is just because it's accessible while the belt is getting done and will save on shop hours later on.

Exactly, doing the t-belt and not the water pump would just be plain dumb. Also I would do the pullies while there as well. It isn't amazingly hard but is time consuming. I honestly think you could pull it off in a weekend. I did my 1G Talon in a weekend but did a whole bunch of other stuff while there.

$300 bucks is on the low side for a job like that. Most places are gonna be at least $500. I had "a guy" do mine on my integra for $300, and that was the cheapest i could find at the time. Since then, ive learned how to do it.. its not really that bad. Find a goood writeup, and have it next to you while you do it.

Ha, I'm in the same boat, cept I've got 80k and 12years. I'm pushing it everyday. Just gotta find a reputable place to take care of it for me, plus a bitch ton of other maintenance.

I have my 240 to drive around so I've been using that since I'm all paranoid that the belt is going to snap in the Lancer
I ended up making an appointment with a shop in Hatboro that my parents bring their cars too. After Friday I should be good to go.

The mitsu belt will hold loooong past 60k.... I wouldnt worry too much about it breaking at any givin moment. Try GVautosport, JNZ tuning, or RTtuning. They are all close within 15 miles of you.

Oh, and I suppose its more then dealer labor? Performance shops also cater to everyday vehicles at respectable labor rate that's just as cheap and reasonable as a mom and pop shop. JNZ does EVO timing and pump for $380...granted this isn't an evo but I doubt the parts are any more expensive or would require anymore labor to do the job. So, what in the "bejeasus" was the point of your post? It didnt help the OP in anyway, shape, or form. Leave your opinions elsewhere if they dont benefit the discussion.

At 60k it isn't a bad idea to do plugs, coolant, and a trans flush too. I work at a local dealership and can attest to regularly scheduled maintenance. We have some cars come in with over 300k and have had no major hiccups, just the regular ish
