Purchasing a vehicle in PA to title and register in NJ

I am looking to buy a vehicle from a Private Seller in PA, but I will be insuring, registering and tagging it in NJ.

Do I need to goto a tag place or notary public with the seller or do they simply sign the title and give it to me?

Are there any other hoops of fire I need to jump through?

Thanks guys.

my car is registered in the poconos so i dont have to pass emissions and when we bought the car i gave them my pocono house info instead of where i live all year, it may be different if you go to a diff. state tho im not sure

When I bought my 240 from jersey I just brought a pa plate to drive the car back and had it registered here. When I sold my EG hatch all I did was sign the title and the guy trailered the car to jersey and got the title transfered with out me being their. If you don't have a trailer tho you can go to a title place and get a temp tag that lasts like a day or two just so you can transport the car between states.

Very easy. I sell alot of cars, And have sold through out all different states.

Recently to someone in NJ.

Quick and easy:

They came and bought the car.

We went to the notary, And the notary made me sign the title, them sign the title, and notary stamped it. Gave them the title. He gave them a temp 30day tag to get them back.

That is it, Very simple. When you get back to NJ, You go to your dmv and take care of everything just like you would when buying a car in you area.

If you buy an out of state car, all you have to do is have the seller sign the title.

Drive it back, trailer it back. Go to your local notary and have your id and insurance card ready. That's it.

But I live in pa.

this has been discussed several times. If you are a NJ resident and buying from PA you do not need a notary. Just go to the NJ DMV and give them the signed PA title. they print you the NJ title on the spot. Me and my friends have purchased several cars from PA before.

they wouldn't let me get a temp tag in PA for my car for some stupid ****ing reason, so the guy I bought the car from followed me home and then took his plates.

Not that I would do this myself.

Just slap on a plate and drive it home. I would get insurance so at least if you do get stopped or in an accident you don't get ass raped.
