tgilb, you are absolutely right, Silva walks around at 215ish. The only difference for him with Irvin, was that he was fighting a much heavier fighter. he cuts down considerably for his 185's, and this was just less of a cut for him.

Yea.... and even at a heavier weight for fighting, he was still quicker then hell.

But Cote vs Silva should be a good fight. Wondering who else they are trying to get on to the card....

Oh.. and for KO'ing Silva... I wonder if Crocop's head kicks can do it?

cutting weight is a big deal. Did you see how gassed Brandon Vera lookied in that last fight from cutting that much more?? Silva moved up in weight, and he moved down. He looked dead after a few minutes, it takes it's toll.

Crocops kick COULD knock anyone out. I just think that Silva's precision is so on point that he wouldn't get a chance to get it off. Just like Irvin, his punch power COULD have put Silva to sleep. But he got rocked before he even had the opportunity to set it up.

Yea... Brendon Verra looked absolutly dead in a couple of minutes... but he also has not fought at 205 before. Anderson has.

And yea... Irvin tried to set up with that body kick. Instead, his teeth wound up somewhere in his upper intestine. Did you see the pic of him at his post-fight party? It looked like Silva drilled it into socket about a dozen times, and it was just one punch? Ouch.

only dude i see somewhat being a problem for silva in the lhw division is really machida, but machida is the reason silva isn't staying in the lhw division since they're good friends and silva wants to see lyoto get the belt. but who knows, rampage and forrest are big dudes with heavy hands they'd be a tough fight for him too.

what do you guys think about gsp moving up to fight silva? I think it'd be interesting but i don't think he'd have a chance but I'd love to see it go down

GSP vs Silva would be crazy.

And yea, Rampage has a heavy hand, but would get MURDERED on the technical side of fighting. He doesn't have the ground defense to keep up with Silva at all. With all the different ways that Anderson can fight you, I am sure that the fight wouldn't stay vertical too long. And Silva is too tall and lanky to really get in too close for Rampage to cut loose. That, and in the clinch, Silva is 100x better at taking down, and also with the knee strikes.

Forrest I think stands a better chance, but his BJJ and wrestling skills need VAST improvement (even though he is good at BJJ, its Anderson Silva, lets be real here). Anderson Silva is just really all around a better fighter then Forrest right now. Give Forrest a few more matches, and get his wrestling game there, then we can talk a different story.

in bjj it's true that it doesn't matter how strong you are it's more about technique, but let me quote tito here"all that gets thrown out the window when you're getting punched in the face" all rampage I think would need to do is take him to the ground and pound away and with how big he is and his wrestling background he should know where to keep his weight to stay on top of silva. rampage has done decent against the few ground specialists in the past, I wanna see how he'd do here.

forrest is about the same he has beaten shogun who was considered one of the best in the world at the time but came into the octagon in not too good a shape. but forrest is strong and has crazy heart so who knows

Machida and Silva would be great but thats a dead issue. They both already said they will not fight each other. I don't think they will make them either.

GSP vs Silva would be great too. GSP is a hardworker, i think it would be interesting to see what he could do, but i doubt he has any desire to move up in weight.

Shogun Rua is an AMAZING fighter, and yea, Forrest tapped him out nicely. Do I think that Forrest has better BJJ skills then Silva, or even Rua, no. But this is MMA, it can change DRASTICALLY. Also, Rua gave up his back to Forrest, and he is just a smart fighter (See him fighting Jackson, and staying away from the hands).

With Silva vs Jackson, it would be a different fight all together. I am sure that Anderson is going to want this on the mat, but with him on top, or able to get Quinton off guard w/ some up-kicks. The biggest thing with Jackson is just keeping him grounded when locking in armbars and triangles, since he tends to powerbomb his was out of those rather easily.

I dont think GSP would change classes, but it would be interesting to see. I would def. make sure to watch that fight if it were ever to occur.

I just don't see silva wanting to take it to the ground with either of them they're too big for that and I haven't seen silva's bjj put to the test yet, first time really seeing it was the rnc he put on hendo, and the only way i see silva winning is with accurate strikes.

and did anybody watch the elitexc fights on saturday? a lot better than the last one they put out on cbs, fights were awesome with none of them going to decision(unless you watched the showtime portion) nick diaz was looking alright I want him to come back and take the belt away from noons and that cyborg chick looked nasty. i love gina to death(soooo hot) but she better start training hard for this chick.

Silva is a 4x BJJ World Champ. I am sure that his ground game is just as amazing as his stand up. And he has had a couple of wins with nice submissions in his career. I forgot who, but he also has locked in a sick triangle on several people. Just with Jackson, his core and upper body power, he can just lift people up easily and powerbomb out. He did it to Forrest on a bummed knee, with a deep armbar locked in.

And I missed the EliteXc fights sadly. I gotta remember to DVR those.

yea this round of EliteXC looked much better. Cyborg is def a bad chick! The funniest thing was when she thoughtthe fight was already over and hopped up ont he cage. That had to be semi embarassing....until she hopped right back in and then finished it forreal.

Nick Diaz was funny at the end of his fight too, because his corner kept telling him watch his language. He and Noons wil be a nasty fight.

I've seen a sick triangle put on silva but it just seems he's always getting put on his back with a lot of figthers and with most of his wins coming from strikes I really wanna see him put against a real ground specialist to see what he's really made of cause it's an aspect of his fight game that hasn't really been tested.

I can't stand noons, he was supposed to fight him at that fight but backed out. it just seems he keeps trying to duck nick then talk trash about him in interviews. he does have good hands so i wanna see nick take him to ground and maybe pull off another gogo like he did to gomi

I really cant wait for Gina to fight at the next Elite XC. she's so hot, it's hard to believe she's actually a good fighter.

I hope Noons and Diaz does eventually happen. They both talk a lot of shyt, this is one chance for them to settle. Most fighters respect their opponent to some degree, so afterwards its all good. This fight would have so much hatred in it, it would be awesome. lol

Prefight interview wouldn't be the normal "i'm gonna submit him, yada yada". it'd be more like "i'm gonna snap that motherfawkers neck"..lol

I was so happy to see The goat lose so quickly too. he handed Eddie Alvarez his only loss of his career, i hate him for that and didn't want to see him get the unclaimed belt. lol
