guys... this is the photography forum so please keep the non-photo related comments to a minimum... do that in off topic if you must.
photoshop elements is a more basic form of photoshop and it is MUCH cheaper. i would recommend getting it if you are interested in getting deeper into photo editing. another thing i'm seeing is that your white balance is off some, some yellow could be removed. you can achieve the things you are talking about by adding saturation and increasing contrast but watch yourself as taking either of these too far can make the photo look unnatural and its a big pet peeve of mine. in this photos the shallow depth of field kind of gives me a headache, not sure if thats just me or not though. hope that helps...

I would play around with it in CS2 a little if I had more time (Sooooo much work to do for school tomorrow, and I am just taking a little break).
Maybe its just me but I think if the tooth pics were more in focus along the outer edge and just the table top was out of focus, it would be easier to achieve what you are looking for and the picture would look a lot better overall.

trolls right on the money, play with the brightness and contrast, also with a good selection of the background you can play use selective color. to pale out the background without effecting the tooth picks.
You can have some fun with it. I don't mind overly photoshopped pics, or photoshop at all. sometimes they can have a good impact. But if you are a photo guru and want the natural shot. Then you need to adjust the white balance on you're camera, and or change you're lighting. Taking a perfect picture is a lot tougher then editing a bad one. I did a edit version but I can't upload the pic right now. |

I know that probably took you a minute, but I don't think it looks much better.

i wanted to keept he colors as natural and only boost the shadows. contrast and curves and some other things would have effected the color and yes i spend all 2 minuets on it if i spent more time the shadows would have been more uniform
