WARNING!!! Bad experience with LimoToday in Bensalem
I booked a limo with LimoTodat in Bensalem about a week ago for a group of people to ride to Atlantic City a few nights before Christmas. I went to the building that they operate out of, dealt with one of the employees, and put down a $200 deposit. The interest from my group of friends was strong, but after a few days, people began to back out in fear of gambling away too much money just before the holiday. Eventually, it came to the point where nobody wanted to go anymore. I went back to LimoToday in Bensalem last night to cancel my reservation, and after a few minutes of tension between 2 of the employees in the back office, I was informed that they would offer me the $200 in the form of "store credit." I told them I didn't need their store credit, just my money put back on my VISA. They told me that they don't do that, and that it is stated on their website. I was also told to come back tomorrow (meaning today) to deal with the employee I first dealt with, who I assume is the manager. Finally, I head over today and long story short, he gave me the same song and dance, telling me that he informed me that it was not refundable when I signed the forms in the first place. I would not have signed up for this trip unless I had cash in hand from my friends HAD I been informed of this "non-refundable" policy. This disclaimer of "down payments non-refundable" is NOT on the reciept. It is NOT on the forms I filled out, and it is NOT on their website. I'd recommend staying away from them. They seemed decent enought on my first visit, but have acted very shady each time I returned. I filed a claim with VISA, and I'm sure I'll be refunded by them, but be careful out there.

why not make the manager show you where it says nonrefundable in writing? that'd be your easiest and fastest course of action.

He never even made an attempt to get out of his chair. I told him I was going to contact my card provider and he didn't seem to have a problem with it. Too shady if you ask me.

What I would do is call him asking for documentation for your lawyer and if he says it was a verbal agreement just bluff a little about small claims court, Most likely they will cough up the money rather than to waste a day in small claims.

We won't have to go to small claims. VISA will do their investigation, and since these guys don't have much of a leg to stand on, VISA will refund me. I'm more than confident about it.

without asking him to show you the documentation though, you dont know if they have a leg to stand on or not... thats what i was saying. have him pull out the paperwork and point out the part that says non-refundable, at that point you'll know who is right and who is wrong and what action to take.

Nothing on their desks say it, nothing on my paperwork, nothing on their website which 2 people told me displayed the information. He had absolutely no interest in defending himself or offering up the info. All he had to offer was "we don't refund down payments."
EDIT: The only thing he had to say was "I'm an honest guy. I told you when you signed the paperwork that the down payment was non-refundable." An honest guy would offer up some solutions before becoming uninterested in whether or not I will be filing a dispute against him with my card company.

Its good to have a girlfriend that works at the branch they bank at. She called the limo service and got the owner on the phone who wouldn't come out to see me and got him to refund it. I guess the manager didn't think it was important to tell the owner about the claim I was filing with VISA. The owner promptly decided to refund my money after Becki handed him his ass over the phone.

Not that I can recall. Like I said, if I could recall him saying that in the first place, I would never have put a down payment unless I had cash in hand from friends that were definitely going. But whether he says it or not, its not in writing.
