Need advice on a car...

I have Civic with a H22 now and i am getting tired of the honda scene. I want to move on to something else. I was thinking of a DSM. I have heard alot of good and bad stories about them. Can someone clear up the rumors of these cars. I heard they aren't reliable. Tim, i don't think i can do it anymore... I want something different. Maybe if the car was in perfect condition on the outside i might like it. But it stll needs alot of work.

what the **** are you talking about? mines a modded daily driver and doesnt give me any problems. this has been covered a million times. a dsm will perform only as well as the owner treats it, just like most other cars. if you do scheduled maint., and generally take care of it, it will not give you problems. if you want to get a dsm, do it. i'm on my second one and i've owned a honda before and dsm>honda. christ people are pissing me off with this dont buy a dsm bull****

So you mean to tell me that DSM people just dont take care of their cars right?? Cause from the people I know personally who take care of their cars, the ones who own a DSM are always left stranded first, and its usually on a regular basis.

Its more than 2 people man. If it was only 2 people I wouldnt be talking against the car, but for Lou its pointless to go from one money pit to another. Even the DSM community admits that the cars are rubbish, ive heard it time and time again. My buddy in cali, GS-t, he cant keep it on the road for more than a month at a time before something else goes, and he does pretty religious maintenance on the car.

Youve had good luck with it, great, but I dont want to see my friend buy a car that he will seldom be able to drive.

Fanboys will never badmouth their cars, only realistic owners. I can badmouth my own car all day long too because I am willing to realize its faults, and not put it on a pedestal. To each their own, if I had to get a project car it would be a DSM, but for a daily driver, no way.

im not a fanboy you ****ing asshole. i've had 2dsms, a honda, and a 300zx. and why would i badmouth my car no matter what it is, thats just ****ing dumb. out of the cars ive had, the 300zx gave me the most problems so stop talking like you know **** about dsm's or any other ****ing car for that matter.

I did not read all of this **** because all i saw was 97dsm and CN going back and forth. Heres the issue with DSMs, and any car in general. Any car that you beat on everyday for years and years will have problems. Hondas dont because they make no torque, the h22 makes a decent amount of torque for a honda, but its still not alot of torque. DSMs are awesome cars and will be plenty reliable if you care for it. Dont do things half ass like most dsm'ers do and you'll be fine. Treat your DSM as you would like your DSM to treat you.

Saying DSM's are rubbish is about as true as saying all 80's dodge's sucked...

I know of a couple guys who own 2g DSMs and they love their cars. Sure they have a problem here or there but not any more so than any other car on the road.
