concealed handgun traffic stop
Just wanted to hear a real LEO's perspective on the proper procedure for handling a traffic stop while carrying a concealed weapon.
I know PA doesn't have a "duty to inform" law, but do you appreciate it when a licensee hands over his CCW permit along with his ins, DL, reg, etc? Or would you just rather not know. I have decided I probably would not disclose to the officer that I was carrying unless I was asked to step out of the car, in which case I would notify the officer I was carrying, where the weapon was, and ask the officer how he would like me to proceed. Also, it would be interesting to hear your personal feelings on civilians carrying concealed firearms for self defense. Thanks Sarge! |
