Safari (mac) issues

Ok, Ive been an avid user of macs in the last few years. Since ive started my multimedia major, ive lived on them. Well, i have 24" HD iMac. Its about 2 years old. Within the past month, my safari has been crashing NON STOP. It feels like every few links i click, safari just unexpectedly quits. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I am not on the newest OS, the one before that (im a little enraged to thing about which OS it even is. tiger?) Its just come to the point where im working in photoshop, i would save a photo, and safari will quit.

Before the whole PC vs Mac vs Linnux argument starts, i have a HP Laptop as well. That is what i use for my academic classes and my other bull****. My iMac is essentially my "work" computer. It doesnt have music on it, videos, files for school anything. just a **** load of raw photos, edited photos, and editing programs.

Basically, im asking if anyone has problems with safari on the tiger OS. Should i just upgrade my operating system to their newest one, leopard i believe?

Did you do the update to safari 4.0? I have an 24" Imac, but the newer version, and when I went to safari 4.0, it does freeze and force close. Google Safari 4.0 crashing. Youll find your answer.

you can always try uninstalling safari and isntalling it again to see if that fixes the problem.
worst comes to worse, you can back up your personal data and use the system restore disk to format the drive and reinstall the os.
no need to buy a new version of the operating system or anything like that.

it happened to me. i had to upgrade the os in order for it to stop. so far i've had no problems at all with the newest safari. that's probably your best bet if uninstalling and installing doesn't work.

well, i upgraded my safari and made sure all the dumb plugins where compatible (after googling this issue, that was a common problem). I jumped onto photobucket, pressed choose files to upload, and it crashed. I might ditch safari and try firefox....

I've had a couple different Mac laptops the last couple years and I've just always used Firefox. I have heard that the latest version of Safari is pretty nice though.

Firefox just seems slower to me. And yea, the new safari is nice once you fix the shut down issue

i like how its configured, its almost a spitting image of vistas internet explorer. Idk where this crashing issue is coming from though, it has to be a plugin or something. anytime i open up a java script (like photobucket to upload photos) it crashes. othertimes its just random. what a pain in the ass.
