Vimeo embed
http://www.tristatetuners.com/forum/...d.php?t=110629 I started that thread and put in the bbCode I wrote for over at driftpa and it works just fine, no issues, and it sizes it relatively small. Just throwing it out there - I'd love to see that thread blow up with good videos, but embedding vimeo would be sweet and would take like 2 minutes in the admin panel for you guys if that bbCode was applicable (should be...). Let me know if you will/won't just so Im not left hanging...

Yep, it scales in a really trashing manner within your browser. Its small, and doesn't load in HD. What server load? In the sites I admin on, it's never been an issue...

Wrong choice of words, tired, because TST isn't hosting it, meant extra browser load. And depending on where the video originated from, it can take forever to load or could expire than the thread will sit with a dead video a year from now

Browser load? Is that even a valid technical term? "Load times" and "dead videos" would be no different than a link to the same video.

yes it is valid and its different because a link is txt just like the rest of the forum and a dead video will leave a dumb empty box on the post.
And is there a reason every one of you losers always has to try and start something with other members? for 1 you knew damn well what I meant, and 2 they are valid so have a nice day |

Butt hurt much? I guess no one is allowed to have a different opinion than you. No one is trying to start anything with you, so get over yourself. I was just putting my opinion out there and questioned a couple of your points.
On a side note, if you want people to take you seriously, take a couple extra seconds and use proper grammar, capitalization, and punctuation. It may actually give you a little bit of reliability.

You were making fun of the terminology I used. You are free to have whatever opinion you want, and opinions are never wrong. So have your opinion, but don't go making fun of what I said.
I don't have time to check type everything correctly because A) I have a life and don't sit on this forum all day like you do, and B) I don't care if people with insecurity issues judge my like you. End of my input, I said what I had to say in regards to the OP. |

Can a mod clean this thread up - this was a serious question.
If the bbCode is not applicable, I can re-write it if you guys don't have time to look it over. I would much like to go to TST for awesome HD videos over a few forums... but the embed option lets me browse much faster which is the main reason why I recommended it.

Is it possible to allow videos to be embeded in a certain section of the forum? That may be a nice compromise for everyone.

And I gave my serious input until I got made fun of. I like the idea but there would have to be a set of guidelines as to the how big (window size) the embedded video can be, where it is allowed to be hosted. My biggest concern is people are going to just start posting dumb videos all the time.
For people who have a legitimate purpose like you do, yes I think its a good idea, but the majority of the forum (number of people trolling around this forum is ridiculous compared to when I first signed up) will abuse it. If perhaps we establish a rule such as you have to have "x" number of posts, but that can be left up to the admins. EDIT Just saw Khellen's post. Thats a good idea, like under Gallery or Photography only |

That's a great idea as well. Make it high enough that someone would have to be a very active member to actually contribute video to the forum.

I don't see any code in your post (nvm it was in the link, sorry). Size wise that seems fine. again though this needs to be restricted and only certain users allowed to post

Some of you guys need to stop acting like dicks....seriously.
Carministrator is not nuts and if you do know anything about web pages and embedding, then you would actually know that his "idea" is correct. Perhaps he said it slightly wrong, but he's not off base. Sounds to me like he was referring to inital load times when browsing to a site, and in that case, yes, the more you embed onto a site/page, it can increase the time it takes for that page to load. |
