Car Of The Month: February '07 - BadassEvo

Car Of The Month: February '07
BadassEvo's 2003 Mitsubishi Evo

TST: What got you into cars?
Chris: I always loved cars, growing up as a kid I used to have a crazy matchbox collection and my brother had an awesome firebird. So I guess it is just in my blood. So when my friend Bob bought a civic hatch and started modding it, good lord I was hooked!

TST: What was your first car?
Chris: 86 Lebaron with farting doors. Ha ha what a hoopty! As for my first tuner car it was a 2000 BRP Subaru Imprezza 2.5 RS. First time I saw one on the road I was in Bob's SI and I said to him: I must have one of them. It's been history since then. After totaling my first love I picked up an electron blue SI. Within the first hour it already had an intake on it. I learned a lot on that car considering that it was cursed and felt like I was fixing it every week.

TST: What about cars really has you hooked… drag racing, road racing, auto-xing?
Chris: I'm really into drifting right now, I want to build an S15 soo bad! I love Rally racing, and the show scene is always good. Actually I love all aspects of cars and racing. I went to tech school for it and my passion has grown even more.

TST: Have you done all the work on your car?
Chris: I did it all with the help of some good friends. The only things I didn't install were the cams and the clutch/flywheel. That's a little too scary for me. Turbotrix did all that including the tune.

TST: What is your favorite mod on your car?
Chris: It would have to be the Cams. Hands down. It just made the car a completely different animal. It pulls soo hard now, I love it.

TST: What are your future plans?
Chris: I'm pretty happy with her right now, but we all know that the tuner bug never stops biting. I just want to add a set of RGII's, an APR rear diffuser and when my stock turbo blows upgrade to a 20g 9-5.

TST: If someone handed you $100k for your Evo, what would you replace it with?
Chris: Probably an RX7, a DC5 Type R, and a R33. Then whatever money I had left I would mod the hell out of them.

TST: How did you hear about TST?
Chris: Well, I worked with Troll back in the day and our tuner scene was just starting to hit hard. We all started meeting at local spots and the rest just kind of fell into place. Once the forum launched it had a fight club effect and seems like it grew overnight.

TST: Have any shout outs before we wrap this up?
Chris: Joz, thanks for always being there whenever I need help or just whenever.
Mom and Pop Dukes for giving me life.
My beautiful girlfriend Justine for her love and always believing in me. God and
last but not least Bryan for giving all us car enthusiasts a place to go, for an amazing photo shoot, and of course for choosing my Evo as car of the month!
