Car Of The Month: Jan '08 - TrboChicsRock

Car Of The Month: Jan '08
TrboChicsRock 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX

TST: What first got you into cars?
Jess: Well my Father was a mechanic so I was always around cars growing up. So I suppose that's where it all started. As far as modifying cars and racing, I don't know how that all started. I bought my first Eclipse because it was "pretty" and not too long after I started buying parts for it.

TST: So since he is a mechanic has he help you out a lot with this car?*
Jess: He never helped me with any of my previous cars that I worked on, but he actually helped a lot with this car. He just came back into my life this past summer which is why he never helped me before.

TST:*You said past cars, what is your car history?
Jess: Well my first car was a 1991 Nissan NX2000, which I never did anything to. But my first car that I worked on was a 1998 Eclipse GST, then I owned a 1995 Eclipse GSX and now I own the 98 GSX.

TST: Which car is your favorite?
Jess: Definitely my current car, but there are definitely times I miss my 98 GST. Maybe because it was my first love, haha.

TST: So since this car is your favorite what's your ultimate goal with it?
Jess: I want to competitively drag race it. Not completely sure how fast I want it to be, but it'll definitely end up with a cage soon and eventually a larger turbo setup

TST:*Whats the best time to date and what do you think you can pull out of the current set up?
Jess: So far I've gone a best of 11.2 @ 126. The car isn't tuned yet and I'm maxing out my current injectors on C16. Once I get those, I know the car can do mid 10's, if I can get traction haha.

TST: With being so committed to drag racing do you think you would ever do any auto-x or road racing?
Jess: I've never tried either, though I definitely would like to. I just don't own a car that would be good at either. With the way my car is setup, it wouldn't be good at anything but drag racing.

TST: So its pretty obvious you are into DSM's*but if you could have any car what would it be?
Jess: Can I have more than one? Haha. If I could only choose one I'd take a Porsche GT3.

TST: When people meet you and see you are driving such a fast car, are they usually surprised?
Jess: Yes, definitely. People will always assume it's really slow, or if they can tell it's fast they'll assume it's my "boyfriend's" or a guy I'm with's car.

TST: After all the work you have put into your car do you think you would be able to sell it, and if so what would you get as the next project?
Jess: I've highly considered selling it and building an Evo, but when it comes down to it I just can't part with the GSX. I guess overall I like the GSX more and I'm just to attached to it to part with it.

TST: I know you have been on TST for a while but do you remember how you heard about it?
Jess: Yes I do actually. Someone on Philadelphia DSM posted the link to it when it first started. I didn't register at first, but I think after a lot of people started joining I finally signed up.

TST: Jess thanks for taking the time to talk to us today, any last words or shout out before we end?
Jess: Thanks to TST for always being there, Barry(S4toSTi) for always taking pictures of my car, my family for putting up with my car, and all of my friends who have helped me along the way, whether it be teaching me, helping me, or pushing me up a tow truck.

TST: Thanks again Jess, we appreciate you taking the time and anticipate great things from you and your car.
