2001 hyundai accent project

Yes you read the thread title correctly i am probably the only person you will see investing time and money into this econo box, but thats kind of what i like about it, its different. My grand father gave me the car 2 years before he passed away when i was 16 because my eclipse at the time was always breaking and i needed a reliable daily driver which this did the perfect job of until recently when the automatic trans went on me, so i had 2 options, 1 get rid of the car that has a ton of sentimental value to me for next to nothing or 2 keep it and fix it. To most that know me when i fix something i get a little carried away, so heres the current plan...

Engine
2.0 hyundai swap
Aem coil on plug conversion
Aem 4 channel injector driver
Ark pulleys
obx intake manifold gasket
Gates Timing belt
high volume oil pump
Snow stage 2 Meth injection kit
Megan 4-1 header w/ dei titanium exhaust heat wrap
Qtp electronic exhaust cut out
2.5" exhaust
Borla pro xs muffler
Jmf deluxe oil catch can
Jmf coolant reservoir
Jmf 2g map sensor adapter
Jmf small battery kit

Trans/drivetrain
02 elantra manual transmission
act clutch kit (entirely too aggressive)
Oem accent shift cables with twm solid bushings
Oem accent clutch master cylinder, clutch pedal, brake pedal
Oem elantra slave cylinder
Chase bays clutch line
Redline Gl4 75w90 gear fluid
fidanza flywheel
Twm short shifter
1.8 elantra pass axle auto
1.6 accent driver axle auto

Fuel
190 lph walbro fuel pump
Stock tiburon injectors

Engine management
aem ems 4 + harness
Aem uego wideband

Steering/ brakes/ suspension
Manual steering rack with new tie rods
Ate super blue brake fluid
Ebc ultimax slotted rotors front and rear
Ebc red stuff pads front and rear
Rear disk brake conversion brackets custom made
Rear tiburon calipers/ parking cables
Ksport coilovers

List of things to come
Remove factory sound deadening and figure out a couple more ways to shed some lbs
New oem hood (currently certi-fit, not a fan very low quality parts)
Paint - dark dragonfly teal metallic or plasti dip
Ksport coilovers
15" rpf1 wheels
Road race tires
Racing seats
Sparco seat brackets and custom harness bar
Install supercharger and re-tune

Its not meant to be a race car just a fun dd that i actually enjoy driving to keep the miles down a little on my other toy

This was what she looked like when I was 16

And a little more current

Thanks the swaps pretty straight forward just have to fix the pass motor mount issue and extend a few wires, and do a few other little things. I was going to turbo it I even purchased most of the parts but then I came across a deal on a pretty rare discontinued alpine supercharger kit I just couldn't pass up. It should be running 8-9 psi with no intercooler just meth, Sleeper status lol

I have a set of focal 17 in. rims for sale that where on my 03 elantra; if ur interested, PM me. I have a for sale thread on elantraclub and elantraxd, but haven't started one on here or gencoupe yet.

Good luck with the build. Turbo Accents are pretty badass in my book, lol. I always enjoy a Beta2 engine build as well.

Never mind on the rims. Looks like the Accent switch to 4x100 for the 01+ years.

I have some updates, engine is torn down. I just want to purchase the piston rings and a rear Main seal before my buddy Aj and I put it back together. Today we're going to the drift event in wall nj or else I'd be working on it but tomorow the plan is time to do the 5 speed swap. Here a pic of progress we did get it to a bare block and put it in the parts cleaner after this I just didn't get a pic

I have a better idea for the engine. This engine is more powerful than a Tiburon engine and will fit perfectly in the Accents engine bay.
This: http://www.insideline.com/hyundai/ve...rst-drive.html
Just wait for someone to crash one so you can buy a used engine/trans or buy a new one from Hyundai.

u realize that engine new from hyundai is gonna be 1000's right? i just did a warrenty turbo, manifold, and cat and the bill was over 3 grand on a turbo genesis.... that was warrenty price. haha. hes going a good route. the 2.0 is a good engine. very little goes wrong.... till it overheats.

Just waiting on piston rings so I can get this damn engine together already and start the swap, they should be here Thursday. I'm looking into an exhaust setup for it now I think I'm gonna go with straight 2.5" with magnaflow hi flow cat, qtp electronic cut out, and borla proxs muffler. I already ordered the cut out I'm just debating on mufflers I want a sleeper look and sound until I flip that little switch lol

heres a pic of the header thats going on, its extremly hard to find a decent header for under $900. this one seemed like the best bang for the buck, was not easy to find but nothing was for this car

The beta2 engine is the best swap. Nets 148hp and probably could hit 165 hp with some bolt-ons and a tune. People have also supercharged it hit 250-300 hp. Which is plenty for a car this size and weight.

Good luck with build!

Thanks for the positive feedback. my hopes after its all said and done are 240whp with 9psi, meth, and aem ems 4 tuned properly. The motor is just about together, im getting a different trans on monday that should be a little stronger and have better gearing out of an 02 elantra so now i need a new clutch kit to go with it :/ im think im going with an act since i had one in my spyder and it held up extremly well with plenty of power and no slipping at all. Any way heres some pics

and a box of parts

I had one of these in 2 doors as a beater... so slow. But I remember there was one of these where the kid had done a Honda B-series swap with boost and it was crazy.
