Nice car. Always liked these style preludes. Have to say I feel the old spoiler flowed with the car better then the wingless. What are your plans for the motor rebuild? Just doing a basic rebuild or going turbo?

It was well worth the 3 years of searching. Got lucky and picked it up off the original owner who had every receipt for every part and maintenance done to the car - as well as all of his background from the Prelude forum i'm on. Quote:
The spoiler was fiberglass and was split on top in a few areas - as well as the entire front portion that touched the trunk was split end to end. So it took in quite a bit of water and figured it would be cheaper to just go with the deal i got on the cf vs getting a new spoiler or welding/painting the original trunk. It was a Wings West mini commando, not really a cheap one to replace (previous owner purchased/installed it) - It now resides in my basement and is used as a cup holder/ coffee table. (hole saw fun!) As far as the motor rebuild goes: For now, the plan is just a stock rebuild from the bottom up. The car's strengths are in it's handling, so as long as I have a sound reliable motor- i'm going to focus more on it's suspension components. It'll be sitting around 215whp by the time I'm done anyway - which i'm content with vs the 185ish stock Right now, i'm out of a job - so the progression for the time being just consists of the small pile of parts i've collected over the past 3 years that I just never had time to install because of my lack of spare time at my last job. I hope to at the least have the bay painted by May, I've got a bit more relocating to do with the EVAP system and for the time being just a few oil seals to replace. The motor runs alright besides the slight valve tick, still getting 25mpg city on 93, the rebuild is in the back of my mind. Last edited by 01NightHawk; 02-26-2012 at 08:31 PM. |

Ah I will always have a soft spot in my heart for preludes. My first car was a 9 or 91 2.1si. I loved that car and have always like this body style as well. Good job with it.

Little update:
Finished sorting through a bunch of wiring diagrams trying to figure out the other half of my harness. - Hopefully I've got it right and don't burn anything up! I'll be removing my controls tomorrow and soldering the 3 jumper wires on, as well as feeding the 5 lines to the pump itself (2 will be going back to the controls for more soldering) .... reminds me that I need practice soldering.... If I'm really motivated, I might even get around to hooking up a switch for the ignition wire so the pump's not on 24/7 quick pic of some of the wiring mess going in: As much as I want to, I won't actually be powering the pump up tomorrow. It's a 2 person job with the location it's in... and I still need to have my AC emptied so i can pull the compressor to fit the ps line through. But I can do that anytime during the week. Funny, I started researching this project last may - and collected bits and pieces off and on until now. I might actually finish a project within a year! |

No, i'm unemployed atm... Sears has been sounding rather tempting though! Which sears did you see one? did anything stand out on the car? If in northern DE (where I live) - there is one with 5 spoke wheels/tint/wing/lowered and driven by a kid that i've only seen when i drive the beater, in passing it looks exactly like mine. But I have a few more details than him to stick out lol (the last pic in post 3 is my most recent photo) Last edited by 01NightHawk; 03-20-2012 at 02:40 AM. |
