Being you have an 01 420a, most of the problems were ironed out around 1998 in the motor. Early 420a's had lots of oil leaks, lash adjuster problems, and head gasket problems. Whats the problem with the headgasket now? Leaking, overheating, missifiring?

Anyway it is pretty straight forward. Easiest just to pick up a new head gasket and head bolts, take the head to the machine shop to be cleaned up and checked out. If your in there and it hasn't been done in a bit new t-belt, tensioners, waterpump. There's not really any tricks or curves balls. Just get the torque spec for the headbolts and your good.

It looks like a very easy job... but it is something you will want a teardown book for so you torque everything in order and at the right tq. Def do a full major service while you have it apart. Tbelt/H2o pump/pullys/tensioner also.

Its easy to do in the sense that it doesnt take a ton of mechanical knowledge or skill to do it. Basic mechanical ability and the ability to do a google search when you get stuck.

Its difficult to do in the sense that.. its time consuming as hellll.
