I've seen it done before......i think mostly for dyno reasons.

I am pretty sure they can disconnect the rear driveshaft. I have seen some DSM people do that as well, atleast on the dyno.

it is a single turbo r32 by eip tuning which made around 600 hp to the front wheels. the driveshaft was disconnected to go on the dyno, and the car is not very impressive.

THats approx. 515 AWHP, thats a common # for street dsm's. Its a nice car, and made good power, not that impressive though.
