97 gt cooling fan issue

So after 20 minutes of idling today my fans would not come on, even when temps would go above normal operating range. however when i turn the ac on the fans come to life. If anyone has ideas of what could be causing this issue it will be appreaciated.

Bad fan relay or temp sensor ( engine bay fuse box ) ...there will be 2 relays labeled some kind of fan and ac/fan. Obviously the ac one is good. Swap them and see if the temp controlled fan kicks on. If it does there is your problem, if not then it may be the temp sensor ( under intake manifold behind alternator screwed into the crossover pipe ) You will have to drain some coolant to pull it out without making a total mess. If that doesn't fix the problem then it maybe the fan motor is dead.

If your up to it you can also bypass the relay with a jumper....if you dont know what Im talking about or how to do it DONT TRY IT

Go to AREA1320 it will take Ryan or Drake less than 10 minuets to figure out what is wrong. Or come to the Apple B's meet on Wed nites ( thread below ) and I can easily figure it out.
