Something (car wise) thats been on my mind....

Well, i'm one of those guys that always wants another car.

Right now, i own 3. I got a 1992 Honda Civic SI. GSR swapped, and the engine has alot done to it. Just got it re-painted, and the initior is slowly getting put back together. Still not streetable.

I also have a 2008 Honda Civic Mugen Si. I got hella lucky finding one (dealership marked it up as a normal Si sedan). And i also own a 2000 Dodge Durango R/T (winter driving).

I'm not hurting money wise, but right now, i'm not making as much as i did before (going to college, GI bill paying for everything, plus $1g for "rent").

My thing is, i've been thinking of selling of 2 of 3 vehicles. Just to save cash.

1. Sell off the durango and the mugen, save a **** ton of cash, and buy a beater subaru or 4x4 pickup for the winter.

2. Sell off the mugen and hatch, and keep the durango. graduate college, get me a nsx (always wanted one, almost got one, but, had to help out famliy money wise)

3. Sell the hatch and durango, and buy beater 4x4 for ****ty pa winter, keep the mugen for nice weather drives.

And another reason is lack of space. My parents driveway (yes, living wiht parents to save money while going to college) is full of cars, and i'm using all the bays in the garage (which is technically mine, since i paid off the loan for it for my parents, thus no NSX).

Inputs, flames?

College should always come before cars. Tough it out now so you don't have to the rest of your life.

And you live at home, its very toolbag to have 3 cars and live with mommy.

Just my 2 cents

Sell the hatch and the si, keep the durango. Already has 4x4 for winter, good bar hopping vehicle.

Haha. See how much better this place is than that other place we came from, Sean?

Why don't you wait until after winter? That way you can drive the durango all winter, work on the hatch and then maybe you'll have a better idea about what you'd rather keep.

Is the only car you have a payment on the mugen?

not really, the guy just called me a toolbag.

yeah, the mugen is the only car i got payments on, and, if i felt like it, i can pay it off completly right now, just need to build up more credit for later.

good of you to help out your family. if they are in a position where your assistance is no longer needed, why don't you get your own place, and sell one of the cars (mugen). now youve already have a winter beater, and you can work on the civic. after winter, as others have mentioned, reevaluate. cars are a terrible investment, and nothing beats living in your own place.

i was looking at moving out. but, i'm only getting $1000 a month for living expenses.

rather just grin and bear it for 2 years while in college, then move out when i get a good paying job.

ah, i'm 26 too. never went into the military and never really did much with college. I floated along for a number of years just working. Till i landed my current job programming 2 years ago.

If i were you... i'd probably keep all of the cars....

but since this is a "do as i say not as i do" kinda thing... it'd be smarter to get rid of 2 cars and save up money. it'll probably be hell when you get out of college and having a nest egg would be a nice little boon

You know my thoughts on moving out. I don't think it's a good situation, living at home, and I think you'd be a lot happier living on your own. I understand why you're there, but I think it's going to **** you in the long-run.

But that's neither here nor there. IMO, finish the 5th gen, wait until after winter and see what happens then.
