Finally tried to get some real exhaust clips. Also switched exhaust setups.

I ditched the 2.75" Milltek setup and installed a 3" Magnaflow that is marketed for the 2012-2013 Golf R. I found the Magnaflow setup on Amazon for quite a fair price; it was cheaper than anywhere else on the internet and nearly half the price of any other 3" setup. I was skeptical, but hey, it showed up in 2 days. The Magnaflow setup simply looks like a 3" version of the 2.5" Magnaflow "Sport" exhaust that is offered for the R32. So, it fits right up, for the most part. I had to do some cutting and add in an extra piece of pipe with band clamps for now until I can hopefully have 15psi88 do a tiny bit of welding for me. I didn't take any pictures of the process or anything because it was too hot and I was just ripping through it. The Magnaflow necked down and meant to run with the stock Golf R midpipe, hence the cutting. Anyway, it's finally loud and sounds how I wanted it to sound as it's a typical straight through Magnaflow design. I think the tips look nicer, too.

This first video is the cut up Milltek as seen earlier in the thread.
https://youtu.be/vK9L_2SG4co

These two videos are the Magnaflow doing both normal driving and heavy throttle.

And a few pictures.

I like that in the 2nd magnaflow video you can see your wastegate dump turtle.

Sounds much better though, a lot less drone.

Very cool custom work here. I like how you used the mk6 Golf R parts

I had been meaning to do this for a while and was hoping to find the OE black parts on the forums, but alas my buddy talked me into just rattle canning it. Whatever, it gets the job done and I really don't give a frig. I painted over the LED and you can still see it perfectly. It looks 10x better than the beige blatantly sticking out from the tinted window. Plus, now it's flameproof. #safetyfirst It was the only black paint I had in the shop.

Hahaha yeah. A while back when Brian posted about selling TST merch for cheap I figured I'd chip in a few bucks and order a few things.

Haven't really done anything with the car. Drove it a couple times. Washed it a couple times. Took a few pictures.

I have done nothing with my car lately. Well, I fixed an exhaust leak at a band clamp (exhaust is still kind of just cobbled together). It still starts up and drives perfectly on the rare occasions that I do drive it. I'm going to get it shined up over the next two weeks and take it to H2Oi at the end of the month. After that it'll be about time for hibernation, I think.

Took the car to this year's unofficial H2Oi along with my friend and his Evo. 15psi88 met us down there with his daily driver A6, as well. All in all it was a good weekend for most of us.
I came hope with a dented hood because my engine/trans mounts are so shot that the dump pipe smacked the hood. Going to have to take care of that this winter. I should have seen it coming.

Here is an album link for all of my shots from the weekend:
H2Oi 2017

And here's a group shot of us, along with a Caddy that was staying at the same hotel.

Oops. Bumped into a truck last evening in some slow traffic in town. He had a draw bar still sticking in his hitch receiver. Sliced right through the bumper cover, rad, condensor. Body panels and headlights are untouched. Almost would have rather had a crumpled hood and a busted grille.

Yeah it sucks. It was a tiny collision, maybe 5mph, so i'm perfectly fine. The guy's hitch just punched right through. All the sheet metal is untouched. It appears that it's going to be fixed, which is kind of nice. My great friend 15psi88 has things underway already with a used front clip coming for a few hundred bucks.

Got the oil changed in the R32 tonight. Should be the last time before winter, but I'm also driving it to Buffalo-ish this weekend and it was time for fresh oil before another road trip.

Also ordered a complete set, albeit mixed and matched, of engine mounts for the R32. Had a mishap at H2Oi this year. My dump tube met the hood and sort of dented/buckled the hood. I was on the stock mounts still and they were completely blown out. It was bound to happen. It sucks it took a physical reason to finally drop the money on a set of mounts. Nonetheless, I've got mounts on the way and hopefully I'll have pictures of the mounts and the install soon. The engine won't be moving at all after this. I also just realized I forgot to take pictures of the damage, but it's really not bad.

Oh yeah, for sure. I'm going as stiff as I can on everything, more or less. I'm not going to be surprised when it's almost unbearable.

However, I put stiff poly mounts all around in my TDI and I'm not sure anything can be worse than that; I kind of have regerts about that setup. I've learned to live with it, though. My passengers despise it and think I'm insane.

Anyway, here are a few pictures of the hood/dump and also some pictures of the mounts that just came in today. They barely touched, but it still messed things up a little. I should have known it was going to happen from how tight of a fit it is.

The mounts are Black Forest Industries top/side mounts. The green inserts are 85a durometer poly. The bottom mount is a combination of the billet APR mount that has a spherical joint and 034 Motorsport subframe inserts that are 60a durometer solid rubber. The APR unit replaces what is normally a piece of cast aluminum and a piece of stamped steel with a rubber bushing. The 034MS inserts replace pucks that look the same, but have huge voids in them to allow a bunch of movement to keep a comfortable ride.

Stock pendulum/dog bone mount that the APR/034MS setup will replace.
