Random Low speed, squeel. Not brakes or Clutch. Not speed dependent. Stops at turning
Sound only appears after 40mph and stops whenever there is a slight turn of the steering wheel. No vibes though. Any ideas? 98, 2.8 30v 5spd.

^I was thinking that and then on my break I tried with the windows down, at idle there was nothing, at speed it was only on the drivers side so its either brakes or bearing. I guess its time to buy a shop press rather than spend $200 for a bearing job anyway.

Try to take a sound clip of the noise...sometimes sounds get described differently. Once we hear it we can get a good idea.

Check your caliper pins. They need to be greased with High temp grease ONLY. They can stick if regular grease is used thus the caliper sticks, thus your wear sensors start making noise. Or even worse the wear sensor breaks off and its metal on metal.
A bad bearing wont give you a squeal. its more of a constant thump that varies with speed and changes when turning Put your car on jackstands and have an assistant get the car to the speed where the noise is. Narrow it down from there |
