Just hit 46K. Time to call Crawford for a quote on a rotating assembly. (BTW Ryan, how much for one of your used center diffs installed again?)

I dont think it was that, the slanty eye people are very patient. Subaru beefed up the motor because Americans dislike lag... even though a 2.0 with a VF-39 I wouldnt really call that lag. God forbid you should get boost after 3k. Also, Twinscroll 2.0s (EJ207s) with AVCS stock for stock arent far from our smaller turbo'ed 2.5Ls. Although the Spec C RA-R I believe was rated at 340bhp while our best STi was barely 300.

Mind you Im speculating, but people complain about VWs and their lag...... and thats saying something there. KO3s on a 1.8 still spool fairly quickly. EVOs spool faster because they are twin scroll while still 2.0.

Yeah, it was a marketing move in combination with emissions, etc I'm led to believe. They could make more power because of displacement and keep emissions easy, plus the STi had to run off of 91 because cali doesn't have higher than that. So they made it 2.5 to keep with evos since the 4G63 is a hell of a powerplant. The evos had to be able to run on 91 as well... but their turbos stock are bigger than the suby turbos stock, so you can squeeze more power out of em.

I have a EJ255, think its worth tearing down for pistons? or just wait till she goes a rebuild. In the process of getting a new setup was going to keep it in the 450whp range in hopes to make it through the summer with it.

I'm the second looser at Ryans with the crapped piston
I look at the whole rebuild picture as a positive... now I simply have a reason to do forged pistons, cams, engine monts, larger TMIC, oil pump... whatever the hell you can afford while your at it! Its also great to have a shop like Ryans close by. No way in hell could you trust a Subaru dealership on something like this. *end leg hump*

That sucks. I regretted getting a 2.0l but now I'm happy. Yeah I spun a rod bearing but with my luck if I went 2.5 wrx all 4 cylinders would eat themselfs.

2.0's spin bearings and 2.5's eat pistons.

shoulda stuck with the 2.2e, most reliable subaru engine out there.

It doesn't matter how much you spend on a block Keith. I hate when you do that **** man, you just like the attention re-routed to you. No one was looking for comments or a pat on the back. You say it in a sarcastic manner every single time, don't even try to act like you're joking. Last time I checked we were friends, no reason to go against me with everything I say...

Number 1, if the car isn't getting oil up top then I will most likely spin a bearing and there goes the motor. Number two, my sleeve could drop at any given time. Anything can happen and just like everyone else with a 2.5L, I need to be carefull.

That is probably out of a 07+ STi... esp hearing about piston number 4

04-06s dont eat pistons like that unless you swap the turbo or are running tons of power via meth or whatever.

I got 60K on my STi and ive been stage 2 plus forever and no problems.
