im really glad i took the time to read this whole thread... holy wow...


ive been looking for 06-07 rex's and im reading that the 2.5L 's are eating themselves and the 2.0L's are spinning bearings...


my goal is to own a lightly modded subie and call it a day, but now idk which model year to be looking at ????????


so much info to process i think im gonna read through this thread again...

Its really not a big deal... Buy a 05 or 06 STi and dont mod the thing past stage 2 and you WILL NOT have any problems. When you start swapping turbos you start gambling with the motor.

The thing about car forums is that they'll scare the piss out of you and make you worry over every squeak and hiccup your car will make. If you can't afford the repairs, then don't mod it.

If you take care of the car and keep up with maintenance, you should be fine. If you are honest with yourself about the way you drive, then you'll know what to expect out of the car.
