Dangerousatom's new turbo crap box - as of 7/21/09
-AWD Auto......swapping in a Manual due to the Autos clutch packs are blown The car is getting the full motor rebuild clean up and once over. It is unbelievably filthy ( the motor looks like its covered in greasy brownie batter ) It is leaking from just about every seal that is oil related . I have already gone through a gallon of Simple Green and Purple Power Last edited by dangerousatom; 07-21-2009 at 04:30 PM. |

Things are looking very clean already, and most of the bits-n-pieces are painted. Waiting on some Impreza 2.5i heads to arrive. That I'll be retro-fitting into turbo. Im going Ebay "el-cheepo" header back exhaust and all accessories-n-gaskets

I believe its the 2.2L with the fully closed deck. Subaru's strongest engine.

From what I have found they say 30lbs with only forged pistons. The crank and rods are already forged and it has the ooober rare/JDM-ish oil squirters. Im only planning on a WRX TDO4 or STi vf39 type turbo upgrade around 15psi. Only looking for a fun daily driver. Last edited by dangerousatom; 01-20-2009 at 10:26 AM. |

Weird that I just learned about this motor... that is one tough motor. Do you know anything about xephyr's (from naisoc) legacy? http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...6&pagenumber=2 seems like interesting info

Yeah Liz's parents had one new and it went through heads and two turbochargers in under 20K miles. Block is good everything else sucked lol.

2004 Impreza SOHC Heads......unbelievable valve size difference from the 91 Leg Turbo heads
Auto Trany is out ( what a boat anchor!! ) and the bay is still quite filthy After about a gallon of paint thinner and then a gallon of simple green it was finally clean!! Cut the bumper beam out and mounted up the home brewed FMIC.....I'll finish the pipe routing after the motors is back in |

All new H2O and oil pumps - Timing Belt Kit - WRX H2O cross over pipe - home made upper and lower UHMW 1/8" intake manifold gaskets
WRX Alternator & Power Steering Pump......stock AC Compressor will not fit with new intake manifold....will have to get WRX compressor WRX Header & UP .......the UP needed modification ( 1-1/2"-2" addition to the length and minor angle articulation for proper turbo mounting ) due to the SOHC Heads Transmission - Clutch Master & Pedal Set are in WRX Cat Back - Shorty DP and custom extra long flex connection ( where the CAT would be ) I had some minor hick-ups with the drive line conversion Luckily I had a 04 RS rear to swap out the connections The 91 Leg rear is not a square bolt up, and due to the shorter length of the manual trans I needed to get a drive shaft extension.....this could have been quite a nightmare!! Installed!! Last edited by dangerousatom; 04-01-2009 at 01:17 PM. |
