Mac people help me out

Anyone know a program for Mac's to edit songs? I'm trying to make a ringtone for my iPhone but I have to make the file less than 30 seconds long. Help me out.

I use a combo of SoundStudio, and iTunes, because some phones can use the .aac format and some can only use the older .mp3 format. SoundStudio is freeware, and it gives you like a visual reference of the audio, however it only does .aiff and .wav etc. To get it from .aiff to .mp3 or .aac you must use iTunes, then from there you simply bluetooth it or email it to the mobile device in question. Don't move the files around in the finder, except to the mobile device, or you'll funk up the iTunes library, you can however copy the files to a folder created on the desktop for easy access then delete the folder when done to save disk space. Many options, just depends on the comfort level with getting into the folder structure of the music library.

Also, you can burn protected files to disc and then copy off the disc to a folder on the desktop for ease of access as aiff, fiddle with it in soundstudio, then when you got the ringtone clip you want, add it to the itunes library, convert from aiff to whichever format your phone works with. It takes some practice to get it right, however the desired results are not too difficult to acquire with some patience and attention to each step taken.

If Garageband doesn't work out for you...there's Audacity...it's free and I think its closer to a pro audio tool than GB.

Ah, I've heard of audacity. Garage Band works fine, I just have to figure out how to get the stupid thing to be a ringtone now.

SoundStudio + iTunes is really the best way to go, garageband is cool, but it's a massive app that takes time to load etc. I just made 35 ringtones this way 2 days ago. Took me about an hour tops.

They have specific usage agreements for each studio, so not all songs can be used as ringtone straight off the iTms. The up-side of doing it this way, is that you can give it to other people via MMS or bluetooth.
