Your favorite bands

NIN has to be one of my favorite bands. [rant] I am so sick of radio these days. Maybe its because I'm getting older i dunno but I've come to the conclusion that the radio SUCKS! You really have to search for good new music and I dont find enough time to do so. I end up listening to all the early 90's bands. IMO its really sad to see mainstream music take a horrible plunge. Not that mainstream was amazing, just better then today. [/end rant]

I don't think that I can even name a current popular band. Rap or whatever it is called now...just plain sucks a$$.

I have Sirius radio which rocks. I find myself listening to Blues, Jazz, Bluegrass, all kinds off different stuff.

I have to pick Pink Floyd as my all-time favorite band. Great musicians.

Great band, you going to be at the show this weekend?

I'm more into the bands that came out of the late 80's early 90's as well. Some of my favorites are:
White Zombie
Slayer
Pantera
Korn (the old stuff havent heard their latest album)
NIN
Rage Against The Machine
Tool
One newer band I really like though is Mindles Self Indulgence

As far as Rap I still like the greats like Outkast, B.I.G, Tribe, Cypress Hill, ect but I do like some of the newer origional groups like:
Immortal Technique
Tech Ni9e
Jedi Mind Trick
And no rap list is complete without Redman

I would go into some of the techno music I like but I'm tired of typing

All time favorite BAND?

Metallica, although they have gotten progressively worse through the years. The old stuff abso-****ing-lutely rocks.

I am also into a lot of electronic stuff, but they don't qualify as bands.

sirius radio is def. a lifesaver, i barely listen to regular radio anymore except for preston and steve.

As far as Fav. bands - H.I.M., CKY, Rage Against The Machine, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Blink 182, Green Day (Mostly there older stuff), Sublime, and I could go on an on, but those are the best for me.

Oh, and this one band Pale By Comparison, they kick ass!! I listen to their cd everyday

Alkaline Trio is my favoritest band.

THe list continues with NOFX, No Use For A Name, the Ataris(mostly the old stuff), Lagwagon, Millincolin, Useless ID...
I grew up metal, my first concert was Iron Maiden and Anthrax, so I will always have a soft spot for 80's speed/thrash metal: Exodus, Death Angel, Suicidal Tendencies...
I love old Pantera.
I find myself listening to other stuff too: Dave Brubeck, ATK, Darude...
I usually find a song I like regardless of who sings/wrote it. If a song is catchy to me, i'll like it. Case in point, the Faint's "Worked Up(so sexual)". This is a fun song. Don't know why, just is.

Old Metallica will always have a place in my heart though, it's why I started playing guitar in the first place.

Favorite band ever: Saves the Day... but I don't even own In Reverie, so all the other stuff.

Recently, lots of Set Your Goals, Modern Life is War, Comeback Kid, Sufjan Stevens, Appleseed Cast, Death Cab, Underoath, etc

Basically hardcore, indie, and everything in between with other stuff thrown in there.

Favorite band is Dream Theater. I wholeheartedly agree that the current crop of newer bands absolutely blows. Fallout Boy, My Chemical Romance, Hawthorne
Heights, Panic at the Disco, the Strokes, Jet all make me cringe. One band that really has the talent potential but has ended up average and blah is Audioslave.
Havent listened to their second album but I had trouble getting through their first album without being bored. Some newer bands that I do enjoy are: Arcade Fire, Secret Machines, Mars Volta (all the side projects to go along with it), Los Lonely Boys. I'll probably get some flack for this but Avenged Sevenfold have a pretty decent album in City of Sin. I dig some jazz like Soulive, Herbie Han**** and some Miles Davis. There is defenitely good music out there these days, you just have to go out and look for it.

Best modern band, in my opinion, the Dave Matthews Band. And they're actually a band. They have horns and a violin and keys. Not just the traditional guitar/bass/drums/vocals. Anyone who says Dave sucks should go to one of their concerts at the Garden and listen to the jam from "Jimi Thing" or the violin solo in "Ants Marching" or listen to the crowd sing "Honey, honey, come dance with me" during "Everyday." You can't come close to that feeling anywhere else.

That said, I'm sure that pales in comparison to hearing Hendrix play "Voodoo Child" live (back in the day, anyway) or Pete Townshend play "My Generation" or Zeppelin play "Stairway to Heaven."

I am in no way judging musical taste whatsoever (this is friendly music convo , I listen to some TERRIBLE music by any standard)

but I cannot stand DMB. I've been a musician (and music major, even played violin since I was 6) and it just doesn't get me going. Nor does Hendrix. I dunno, I respect people that love that music, but it doesn't hit me the same way bands like Explosions in the Sky or The Arcade Fire do live. And on CD I find it pretty tiresome.

DMB is more of a live band... It really is something to witness. The only bad part about them live is that I really do not like the type of crowd that comes to see them. Most are "overly drunk" (preppy) retards that dont "listen" to the music. But for the ones that are their for the music, its awsome. I got 2nd row at the vet once, really was amazing esp when it seems as if their playing just for you, untill you look behind you and see 45000+. I think I have a very diverse taste in music and really enjoy many forms. Still can't see much in new music today however.

Well, my all time favorite band is Metallica. However I listen to literally everything from Beethoven, Bach, and things like that, to Johnny Cash, to Slipknot to AC/DC and a lot of metal.

I can't really find any new music that I actually really like, there are very few songs that make me say "This is a great song"...I mostly listen to like Pink Floyd, Sublime, Nirvana, Beatles, Staind, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, The Who, Skynyrd, Incubus, can't think of more off the top of my head.
