Oh God I thought the shell was going to a junkyard! Butt connector wiring and cat pee was not me!

Car has seen better days:

Good luck with it! FYI the drivers side front area is pretty tweaked from a curb hit during a snow storm if you haven't noticed already....

Hahaha oh boy. I did notice that the fender is tweaked i'll have to take a look at the suspension. I dont see any of the orange paint under the black. Just the y49 yellow.

I'll send you a pm i have a couple questions about the car. Thanks for giving me a little history lesson on the car guys.

Lol thanks for the kind words -_-

For real though i'm not gonna try and fool myself into thinking that i can polish a turd. I know that this thing is in need of some desperate saving and we may end up scraping the chassis all together in favor for a nicer one.

Actually we dont have an engine yet, just the transmission. I'm looking for something thats pretty much drop-in. Dizzy, sensors, ect. If thats what you have then pm me a price and i'll forward it to the sponsor. I may end up dropping my own dime on a motor just to get this thing going so lmk.

Oh my god I remember this car back in it's ... "hayday." I don't even think Spock liked it back then, LOL!

I wish you luck, I hate these cars with a passion after owning one. Never again.

Me and mark are discussing options for a new chassis.

This whole thing sounds like the y49 curse rearing its ugly head

My first build thread: A CRX for a friend

Well I didnt even get a chance to check if the damp-rid in the crx collected moisture this weekend. Was too busy with other projects. Put the freshly rebuild tranny back in the van on sat.

Went to go pick up my girl from a baby shower and ended up like this instead:

Something seem strange?

How bout this?

Yes somehow i destroyed a 44 spline funny car axle rated for 2500hp -______-

So there is at least $400 gone for a replacement. I just hope that the other side isnt ****ed up too. By the looks of things the axle has been cracked for a while and the bump when pulling it into the gas station was the straw that broke the camel's back.

So now the car sits like this. I had to drive it home about a 1/2 mile with the wheel being supported by nothing but the brake caliper bracket essentially. Luckily it didnt destroy the 15x14 wheels or the body.

As for the crx my buddy has a pretty "clean" shell with a clean title for $250 i might scoop up. The only thing that worries me is that it caught fire and idk if that would compromise the integrity of the chassis. Take a look.

Obviously everything will be swapped over from the junk car to the good chassis.

So here are the pics of the potentially new chassis

The rust doesnt look nearly as bad and i plan to media blast & paint the surface rust caused by the fire. My only concern is if the structural integrity of the engine bay was compromised.

Both, are you really considering that?

Yes @ $250. I tried looking for a better shell at that price they've all been hit. This shell will be getting body work and paint before anything else. My main concern is the structure as long as it is straight then i'll be happy

why not spend more on the shell so you have less work to do on it?

Buy a better shell. Cutting corners this early means bad results later on
