Got the mounts in yesterday. Went for a test drive last night and drove it to work today. It feels exactly the same at idle, which is nice. Low RPM, just moving around a parking lot or something, it feels like I changed something but it's barely noticeable. Where the NVH really starts to hit you is 2500+ but even then I don't think it's very bad. I think it just feels like it has some stiff mounts in it, but it's not miserable by any means. My TDI is way worse, especially at idle when it feels like it's coming apart. I'll have to get some pictures up tonight.

Alright. Pictures of the mounts. I forgot to get pictures of the two top mounts installed in the car. I'll do that later. Anyway, installing the bottom setup was kind of a pain, and it's not completely done.

I started with the bottom mount. I started by trying to pull out the old poly insert used to fill the voids in the stock subframe bushing. It ripped and came out in pieces. The instructions for getting the bushing out actually say to cut the rubber, so that's what I did. It was a pain, but eventually I got it. Pressing the new solid rubber one in was also a pain, but eventually it went. And here's where it's not completely done. The subframe has two rubber pucks in it, an upper and a lower. I only installed the lower. To do the upper, you need to remove the subframe. I'm hoping I can do this when I drop the subframe to put a "dead set" bushing kit on all the subframe bolts. However, HPA makes a "core interlock" puck that replaces only the bottom puck, and people seem to love it.

From there, I moved on to the top mounts. They were simple and just dropped in.

The worst part of my day was when the mounts moved the engine so much that my hood dump no longer fit. So I had to do some more cutting and filing and ****ing things up to get that to fit right again. Now the dump tube sticks out of the hood way too far. So much for that perfect paint I had on the hood.

Also got the Jetta back last night. No more need for a front plate to cover a couple huge holes in the bumper, now.

God my subframe deadset kit(s) earlier this week. Just gotta find motivation to get it installed now that it's cold out. Also got some new plugs to put in it because I was getting misfires last time out. Probably going to do some other little maintenance items, such as fuel filter, over the winter along with the plugs just to make sure everything is tip-top.

Info about the deadset kit, if anyone is curious: TYROLSPORT DEADSET RIGID SUBFRAME COLLAR KIT FOR ALL MK5/6,JETTA GLI AND MK2 AUDI TT

Got some new plugs in the Golf. I also had 15psi88 weld a bead roll on the nipple for the diverter valve on the charge pipe because I wasn't keen on how it was just a straight nipple. I got some new weight saving parts, too. Aluminum control arms from a Passat to replace the stock steel units. Found them for cheap enough on the forums. Eventually they'll be paired with aluminum Passat knuckles that I'll likely get from Ebay. All in, the control arms and knuckles save you a total of 14-15 lbs, I think.

I put new stock OE motor mounts in the TDI. My interior was falling apart with the poly setup, lol. I'm a ****ing idiot and a glutton for punishment but I couldn't do it anymore. I made it 7,000 miles.

I bought a set of whispbars for the R32. Time is moving really fast. I'm planning to drive to Daytona in January of 2019 for the Rolex 24 Hour race for a 30th birthday present to myself. I just realized the other day that I really need to spend the next year getting road trip ready including carrying gear should any of my buddies go with me. The 2018 race is right around the corner and then tickets for 2019 should go on sale next summer. Everything is going to start happening pretty quickly and that car is really not ready for a trip like that.

So, moral of the story, I guess, is that I need to get it running good and get everything sorted out to carry a person or two and all of our gear for camping, spectating, eating, and drinking. Also considering a trailer hitch and a tiny trailer. The roof rack will likely hold my basket that I had on my Touareg. I will also need, at least, a set of tires for the car, but will likely end up with new wheels just because. Beyond that, I'll likely doing a bunch of small maintenance items and make sure everything is as bulletproof as possible.

Well, I crossed 1/4 million miles in the TDI a couple weeks back. Pretty stoked on that. Changed the oil in the TDI and put a brand new stock lower motor mount back in. Haven't touched the R32 other than putting a battery tender on it.

Here is the water/meth setup that I got from my friend's Evo. He's going slightly bigger turbo and E85 this year and decided to ditch the water/meth that he's been perfecting for a couple years now.
Evo intercooler sprayer tank that should fit where my windshield washer tank was, Coolingmist pump mounted to the tank, Devil's Own controller, AEM failsafe with no-flow/low level indicators, check valves, the works.

Yeah, I think they're a great addition to just about any boosted car.

Was out exploring in the snow, trying to take landscape photos, in the Jetta last weekend (picture below).

I think I'm going to get started on the front suspension stuff on the R32 this weekend. It's not a ton of work and should go pretty quickly. The cold and my ****ty uninsulated shop have really killed my motivation most of this winter, like every winter. I also have a few other surprises in store for this weekend that I'll post up next week.

I just moved and no longer have a garage and it is not fun. I never had one growing up but I've had one for the last 5 years and now not having one is trash. I have my boxes in like 3 separate locations and working back on the ground is a no from me.

So I did a thing. I bought my Touareg back. Finally. I sold it back in October 2016 because I had some bad **** going on in my life, but that's behind me. Anyway, I couldn't be more excited to have this thing back. I forgot how ****ing much I love this thing.

I love how this and the Cayenne are basically the car front ends on an SUV.

Yeah, same here. I think they're both great looking rigs.

Thanks, glad to be back. I have the V8, as well. I love it. I'd like to add one of the TDIs to the fleet eventually, but man I love the noise of the V8.

yeah the noise is nice. I do a fare amount of towing with it and it is really nice. Air suspension is also nice, They are definitely underappreciated tow vehicles.

TDI would be nice and I considered it. I got scared by maintenance.

Finished up installing the aluminum control arms and the subframe collars last night. The front end should be rock solid now. I'm getting it aligned next week and I'm kind of afraid to see out far out it is. I found that it had two left ball joints on it. Fortunately I had a spare right ball joint.

Also swapped out the OEM plastic diverter valve for a billet piston style unit.
