Cardriverx's (Steve's) TURBO Miata.. Megasquirt 2 / New TURBO

5/23/10

Wow, the same day, two years from the last update. Weird!

So like I said, I just got the MS2 in (bought with a Megasquirt 3 case so I can update the processor soon!). The closed loop boost control is GREAT! Among the various other updated features. It is now running full stand alone, no pussy **** here.

Also, my last turbo blew (**** in the oil passage) so I took a risk and bought a CXracing ebay T3/T4 turbo. Build quality looks great, and it works well so far. all for $160! It also has a V band downpipe outlet, which is great.

The turbo lags, sure, but it hits HARD and thats what I like.

Oh, PLEASE Ignore the ****ty welds. All I have is a Harbor Freight Flux welder, and the welds it makes look like ****. But they do hold well aha.

5/23/08

PICTURESS!

------------

Megasquirt is working! 13 psi is fast! check post 123 on page 7!!

-----------

Megasquirt is on the way, along with 460cc injectors. I will beable to run 13 psi with this setup, aka around 230 hp!

---------------

Now at 9 ish PSI

----------

Done!!! Its alive!! boostin at 5 psi =). Pics below.

--------------------------------

Alright, im makeing this thread for my 93 miata c package. Im building a DIY turbo kit for it, and I just put in a MOMO start seat (very nice seat).

So far, Ive got a bosch BOV, vortec 12:1 FMU, Bipes timeing controller, and hopefully a t3 turbo + gauge.

I still need a manifold and downpipe, and all the pipeing for the turbo.

Oh I cannot wait!

EDIT- I now have a downpipe, 18x12x3 intercooler, t3 turbo, and BEGI mani. Need - intake pipeing, oil lines, some v band sets.

I love miata's for road racing. Because I love them so much, I'm gonna offer some advice.

FMU=blown motor

THey are absolute garbage. That thing is gonna put your injectors at 175-250% duty cycle. THen your gonna drop in injector and pop the motor.

Do it right the first time and get proper engine management.

Well, the thing is that the greddy kit comes with a fmu, and they last a long time on alot of miatas. I just need to use it till I get some more cash.

what did that turbo come off of? Why did you ditch the internal wastegate? Are you upgrading any engine hardware with this turbo install, i would definately reccomend getting all arp stuff...especially the rod bolts and head studs and whatnot....just be careful with it, i don't wanna see your motor blow up on you. good luck with it

ok, update. Got an intercooler, should have a downpipe comeing. But because I messed up the rear bumper/decklid/finishpanel, the project is on hold for alittle.. But all I need is intake tubeing.. and some little things.

turbo4g, I am using a internal wastegate from a nother turbo, with a lower setting. The orgional wastegate was set at like 13 psi, imma run 5 to 6 for now. As for the internals, many miata guys run the FM or BEGI kits at 12 psi on stock everything, makeing about 220 hp. Ill be fine, thanks tho!

Got falkin azenis rt-615s a few days agao! Holy ****, these tires are awesome. After a nice drive to get the oils off, they stick like glue! I switched from crappy all seasons, and what a difference. I also got a alignment at mickys alignment.. Heres the specs I gave them

FRONT
caster - max
camber - -1.5*
toe - 1/16 out

BACK
camber - -2*
toe - 1/16 in

This is called a icehawk alignment for the miata guys, and it suits the miata well! great turn in, and very neutral mid turn. I cannot wait to autox on these tires. A++!!

Now my car is like on the bumpstops every turn lol!

As for the turbo, I just got a 2.5 inch downpipe and exhaust w/ high flow cat for $120. It is made for the later miatas, but all I need to do is change the hangers around. Now all I need are oil lines, some v band sets, and the intake pipeing! Man, I cant wait.
