Probably stupid expensive if they even allow events other than their normal schedule.

We're still working on finalizing a date and location. Nothing is locked in yet so if anyone has any excellent ideas please post them here, we can still look in to other options at this point. Thanks!

+1 for the Moms Mall in Morgantown. The lot is huge, there are places to get food, & it's relatively easy on/off the turnpike. They do 2 auto x a year there typically, so I don't know why they'd have an issue with hard parking provided the asshats are kept in check.

That or perhaps contact the Blue Mountain Region SCCAbecause they did 2 auto x there last year, so they might know who you need to get in contact with. Here is the address for the McDonalds that is in front of the Mom Mall...... It'd get you in the area at least: 6176 Morgantown Rd, Morgantown, PA 19543 EDIT: FOUND THE ADDRESS Google Maps Address: 6180 Morgantown Rd Morgantown, PA 19543 Last edited by 93rx7r1; 01-09-2014 at 10:46 PM. |

Thanks for explaining that, I was able to find it now. I haven't counted actual spots yet (yes, thats what I have to do for each location) but on first glance the lot does not look nearly big enough. I know its a big lot and it looks like they have a cool autox setup there, but its hard to imagine just how much room you really need for 2500 vehicles to be able to park somewhere!
I will count the spots over the weekend, but my guess is it can only handle about half of what we need-- we'll see if I'm wrong.

...ok I was curious so I just counted, and I was wrong with my initial estimate.
Estimated lot size not including the immediate parking around the Hotel (but encroaching on it a fair amount) is 2100, more than I guessed and might be enough. The question is, can we get on the grass surrounding the lot, is it flat enough to drive on, and would we be allowed to use it? I'll do some more research and see what I find. The design of the lot isn't great since its separated into quadrants and you cant see or walk to one from another easily, but it still looks like a possibility. Any other suggestions please keep them coming!

Have you tried the Englishtown/Atco/NJMP route yet? I'm sure if you showed them the volume of cars that came in, mentioned it was for charity and separately charged a 5-10$ admittance fee for use of the property or something...

Seconding the Macungie Wheels of Time location idea. That show is massive, more than enough room. Also, a lot (most?) of it is on grass so it will keep the idiots from doing burnouts, etc.
Someone suggested Bear Creek. I worked there for a long time and I know many of them well. My brother is also a year-round department manager there. While I believe they might actually have close to enough space there's no way in hell they'd allow an event like this in there. The Make-A-Wish element is great, but the free-for-all would never work. The biggest consideration to make is who will allow a crowd like "us" to use their facility. No matter how many times you try to verbally outlaw the ridiculous behavior, no matter how many times people try to deny that it happens, etc., the biggest problem is with the crowd that attends this show. I've been going every year since it has been happening and it's getting worse and worse. The central vendor/VIP area last year was great but outside of it was an absolute free-for-all. No organization whatsoever and no discipline. If the show/meet organization were to expand and actually turn into something organized it would be nice. Currently we haven't seen much more than a structure of "stop by for 30 minutes, wait in line to park, get pissed off at the lack of organization, wait in line to leave, do burnouts and rev like an idiot in the meantime, piss off locals". It's a recurring theme.

Highly unlikely that a casino would allow it. The location needs to be somewhere that is open yet will not influence the traffic to their own business. Thats why fairgrounds seem like the best bet.

Are there any airports that are either closed, or only fly on certain days? If anyone has any ideas let me know!
