SEAFOAM trans tune?

I'm going to be trying this stuff in the near future. Im using it in my 1997 ford taurus. The reason is that when shifting from 1st to 2nd, my trans is like slipping/jumping. Hopefully this will be a solution to the problem. ANyone use this product and where did you put the liquid into? Thanks..

i've heard of running it through the engine, but not the trans...
and please post transmission questions in the drivetrain forum. off topic is only if it absolutely fits nowhere else.

Have you tied doing basic maintenance on the trans first (Oil and filter change)? I would try that before running this stuff through the transmission.

your year Taurus's are known to have trans issues...one of them being a rough 1 2 shift I have a 96 and it did the same thing for awhile...eventually went away. Do some searches on Google about it.

id be careful changing the fluid. i know it sounds wierd or stupid, but. an auto trans works on friction. if it has small metal fragments and stuff in there when you flush it and remove all that stuff ur removing the stuff that causes a lot of friction. it may cause the trans to shift even worse(or not at all). a lot of auto trans mechanics actually will not change the fluid on high mileage cars due to this reason. what you could try is putting about a quart of mercon v, it has a higher friction quationt(sp?) base so it may help in shifting.

What you need to do is take it to a transmission shop and ask to get your transmission flushed. Why you need it flushed is because when you drain an auto trans not all the fluid gets out. Flushing the trans gets the job done. I recommend this instead of an additive.

QFT.

I was always told that transmission fluid is something you change regularly or you never touch it.

Id bet that the trans fluid was never changed so it might be a bad idea...

yea trans fluid should be changed regularly, but if it isnt you shouldn't change it when its at like 150k miles and its slipping.
