Man, this GTI is SMOKING!

Sorry for the bad pun. Sucks that it was probably a total loss. I wonder what part of the turbo/oil system failed? Car looked nice before too.

Same here. When my turbo blew up, I thought I'd caught fire. I grabbed the extinguisher I keep in the car (big 'ole halon jobbie) and popped the hood. Was relieved to see no flames, just lots of smoke from oil hitting a hot manifold.

Sorry for reposting, figured people might not have seen it (I haven't, and I've been here about a month?)

I said the same thing last time, and it still hurts to see it.

Heh. I already have one. I might be able to scrounge another, if I can talk to my dad's building manager. They're a few years old, but you can't get them anymore because they're 100% Halon handheld units (standard large, bulky extinguishers).

Yeah I remember this this. Does anyone know what happened with him and that car? Has he since gotten a new one? It still sucks because it looked like he tryed to put the fire out, but the extinguisher was empty. If it was too the point that I knew the car was going to go up in flames, I would have tryed to break out as much of the stuff out of the car possible. But it looks like it was a good idea he just left because that went up on flames really fast. Also have to deal with that thing exploding.
