Closing/Locking Own Threads

Hey i was wondering if you guys ever thought about giving the option to the user who creates a thread to end/lock/delete/close the thread instead of having to get a admin to do so?

This could be good for peoples members journals they want to delete/close up or for sale items that get sold and takes a mod to come by and close them up...

Just a thought

Having members close their own for sale threads would be a good idea. I got a phone call the other day about my truck I sold 3 months ago.

closing the thread would just not allow any more posts in it. you'd still have to go through your posts and remove your phone number.

yeah on another site I am able to delete my own thread, its convenient. or maybe I can do that cause I'm a mod and can delete any thread I want, idk, it is convenient to delete threads though.

I've done that, and I occasionally get PM's.

I think once feedback is left for the sale thread it should be closed or it sell outside of TST.

But, this isn't anything a simple PM to a mod couldn't solve.

I think deleting your own thread would be more useful than closing or locking.

No, people shouldn't be able to delete their posts or their threads. They can edit, but it should show the "last edited..."

Why? So people think twice before making stupid threads, which happens every now and then anyway. The OP ends up editing all the posts and asking the mods to delete it. I like that they have to showcase their stupidity until the threads gets buried.

What about the people who build members journals and want them deleted because they sell the car, privacy, accident, personal reasons

They can ask the mods to remove the thread.

I understand that just more a hassle for both parties if you could just do it yourself with a click of the button

Troll likes to emulate the hardships of life via forum functions. Life would be too easy if you could just delete things, wouldn't it?

Want to know a good way to "delete" your for sale threads?

Edit them. Delete the title, all the info in it, and put SOLD everywhere. If you can't do that, then why would you take the time to click a delete button. From there, the mods can either delete it or let it die.

Keep it how it is. Smart people check old threads on people before buying a car to see its history. You'd be surprised how much people bitch about their car in threads on here, then try to sell it saying its perfect.

edit: to add, maybe put in a closed feature, but I don't think you should be able to delete them.

That is a valid point regarding the for sale section using previous sales for reference.

This is not a democracy. Troll is the king and you do not deserve the power to delete any thread, even if it's your own.

Like I said, this is not some feeble democracy plagued with religion.

This is a dictatorship.
