1994 6 speed Garage Find - Tuned - 775WHP/665WTQ

Found this low mileage gem under an inch of dust in a garage a few months ago and immediately picked it up. It had been taken apart years prior and the engine and head were built and all parts purchased, but never installed. The owner had a business and school to attend to and decided to sell the car. All the OEM parts were labeled and evenly scattered through a garage in the bay area along with nice collection of performance parts. So I spent a day organizing them and preparing the car to be taken up north to Santa Rosa to have the engine was assembled and dropped in at

Lawrence Shipman at
Shipman Automotive Performance
300 West Robles Ave, Unit K2
Santa Rosa , CA 95407

This guy knows the 2JZ in and out and has been building VVT-i 2JZs in SC300s, GS300s, Supras and god knows what else for years. Really nice guy too!

My goal is a fast spooling 700whp street car with a broad torque curve. Next I plan to install the turbo kit, AEM Infinity and fuel system at my garage.

Current Setup
  • Stock block bored .02"
  • CP coated pistons
  • Carillo H-Beam rods with .250" pins
  • VVT-i head with supertech springs, Ti retainers and mild port and polish
  • HKS 264 VVT-i intake cam and HKS 264 Exhaust cam
  • Fluidyne radiator
  • Southbend Stage 3 endurance clutch

Waiting to be installed
  • FID 2000cc injectors
  • AEM Infinity 8
  • Powerhouse racing street torque kit with 6466
  • Apexi GT Spec exhaust

I started out 3 years ago with the purchase of a 1995 red 6 speed car, that ultimately turned into a 6266 tuned on an AEM infinity. The car was great, but I ended up selling it.

Onto the pictures

When I first dropped it off to get the engine assembled and dropped in

Definitely got a deal on it I wasn't expecting, the 6 speeds seem to be just going up. I think he just wanted it gone along with a cleaner garage.

Thanks!
Yes I am still in Philly, just bought a house in center city I end up in the bay area a few times a year for work.

Yea it still needs to be shipped back, but I've been so busy with the house closing to worry much about it.

I'm getting the itch to throw on the fuel system and turbo kit and fire it up!

Awesome, a few us supra guys have impromptu get togethers. We will have to meet up. Are you partial to aem? I'm curious as to why you chose that over perhaps the pro efi system.

Yea def let me know - I do roll to a lot of meets when I have a car.

I don't particularly like the AEM V1/V2, bc of hardware issues, but I have several friends with the infinity and they recommended it. Most are making around 700whp or more on E85 including a lot of abuse at roll racing events and the ECU has done perfect. It even saved my friend's engine when a wire burn out.

I am also familiar with installing and tuning the Infinity - something I can't say for the ProEFI.

Cleaned the car up a bit more and took some pics this weekend.
Intake, valve covers and turbo compressor all going for chroming and AN fittings welded on - started going through the fuel system replacing the pumps with walbro 416 pumps and removing the black nylon lines in favor of rubber coated PTFE lines.

Removed the stock feed line and installed the PTFE feed lines from pump to the engine bay using PHR brackets to secure them.Still waiting on my intake to get chromed. Also added the oil cooler setup, but the threaded rod is too long. Eiter have to cut it down or find a shorter one. It's 3.5" long.

After I get the intake back I will be able to finish with the fuel system.
