this is true, i just like the dual look better in my opinion. and JPalmer, Cmr076, and myself all work at fabspeed. JPalmer is our shipping/warehouse expert, Dave is our master sales man, and i occasionally stick pieces of tube together haha. its a small world...

alright i can actually update this now that i have some decisions made.
after the hydraulic repair was made, it was discovered that the car had a broken headstud in cyl 1. couple that with the fact that the whole top end needed to be resealed, and im looking at a full rebuild. well that sucks. im using euro tech here in MA, and bascially its a full on race shop. the biill is legit 16-18k at the moment. lucky for me, im a ball buster, and vertex the guys i bought the car from, are standing behind it. they are picking up a large portion of the tab as a sign of good faith. really impressed with them, and how forthcoming they have been through the whole process. so, new motor coming. which is nice. waiting a month for it.. not so much. but when its all said and done ill have a zero mile ultra clean car. insert obama not bad meme. motor comes out tomorrow. now i need to find a way to get my car towed to another shop where we can work on the interior as i literally have all of the parts waiting to go in. aaa wont tow a car without a motor. go figure. bunch of ****s anyway. so the car that was a birthday present to myself, is quickly becoming a christmas build. in the meantime, im rocking a 620whp shelby gt500.

Ha yea, hell of a difference that made. I'm just lucky the dealer stood behind the car.

I'm glad they did. It's not often a dealer does anything but say they're not covering it.

and deeper and deeper we go.
motor dropped today. needs new heads. porsche doesnt build them anymore, so used is the only answer. thankfully a set off a '94 with under 50k on it was sourced. so i spent more there, but wont have to have the heads machined, and the valves are good. picking up the rolling tub tomorrow to degrease and then time to tear down the interior. im thinking i want to hide the speakers behind the door cards instead of cutting them out. will look a lot more smooth. a buddy and i are now in a contest to see who spent (ds) more on their rebuild. he just restored his f355. i unfortunately think im going to win.

Spent s few hours in the rain with a power washer degreasing the motor trans and tub. fun times for sure. after a cleanup the body is in great shape. no rust at all. so thats good.
need to decide on color(s) to powdercoat the tins and fan. trying to decide if i want a ducktail to replace the awful wing that was screwed into the stock wing. awful.

air cooled cool. 964, and ongoing triumph stuff.
a real update.
motor is torn down. rust on the broken headstud on cyl 1 proves its been broken a long time. another great suprise was when the head came off and 3 of the cylinders had serious damage to the cermaic coating. as it turns out the cause was the intake manifold coming off at some point and being wrongly reinstalled. the dbag who did that job actually did not connect the manifold to the plastic inlet, but he clamped off the rubber boot. so a massive vaccuum leak was created, and thus the heat that scored the hell out of the cylinders. cyl6 being the worst, closest to the intake leak. fan and housing are trashed, new ones coming. cams are scored, a set of used oem cams are like 600. for 1200 im getting some new baller billet cams. so some more horsepower and a lumpy flat 6 idle are in my future. also going through the trans. we know 2nd gear could use new synchros, so im just doing them all. plus a short shifter from rothsport, a fd motorsports goldenrod and a few updates that porsche did in the 92+ cars. couple that with a rs america lightweight flywheel and clutch ( i think the flywheel is 9lbs vs the 22lbs stocker)) its gonna be as smooth as a baby's ass... you know, whatever thats like. decided today to go with the fabspeed header setup. sending back my exhaust now in exchange. i know its gonna be loud, but its another 20whp+. tough to leave that on the table at this point. i know id regret it if i hadnt gone all in. i guess i can always dynamat the car or something. fingers crossed i can pass inspection up here. interior wise, im pulling the speakers until i can get it to a stereo shop. i dont want to cut up the door cards. figure ill let a pro figure out what fits behind the leather door panels. hoping for some sort of bluetooth audio setup and sirius to get with my iphone and call it a day at that. next decision is the tail. i keep going back and forth befween a ducktail or no tail like the cars before 89 would have had. either way ill be using this badass grille from d-zug instead of a oem porsche option. its a nice updated look thats still got the r-gruppe look to it. i dig it. some pics of the carnage
