not to rehash old beef but....

I just came on again after posting about the locking of mysweetfractures rant on the troll cage. I made a comment about it on the site in public because it was an issue i had with the sites running in general, not with the dictator, some of you call him troll, i kindly refer to him as Fidel. I had no problem with him as a person, so i didnt feel it merited a PM. ALso, just as in a class i thought many may be thinking what i was but needed one person to speak up so they knew they werent alone. Regardless, i never made it personal, so for the DON to make a personal attack on me " edited" comes across highly hypocritical, maybe he needs some time in his own holding cell. Regardless, since you made it personal in public i will now rebut in public. "edited"

Matt

i think the only people who really have a problem with the way thing's are being ran here are the people who start all the BS in the first place. You know if it really bother's you how things are around here the door swings both ways you could always leave.

just for anyone who reads this in the morning and doesnt understand... matt and i talked on instant messenger like adults and although we dont agree on everything we made a lot of sense with things and are totally cool with each other. there were a lot of things he didnt know went on behind the scenes here and jumped the gun with this post, but now i hope he realizes the method behind my madness.
i think a lot of others are in his same position and only have half the story on a lot of things but are jumping on the revolt bandwagon, but hopefully it will all get cleared up in the next day or two.

Everyone needs to calm the F down. I agree that some of the rules may be alittle harsh and I may not agree with the "Cage," but they are there for a reason. I think it's been demonstrated that we aren't all adults here. This site was started on the basis of a weekly meet. One person decided to take that meet to another level. They set up the site, they PAYED for the bandwidth. Alot of people help out to contribute and they handle everything. We've grown quite a bit since then and most of us are still here. The bottom line is that Troll created this little space of the Interweb for us with only 4 rules:

-Don't disrespect members
-Don't curse
-No porn/inappropriate material
-Stay on topic

While I may not necesarily agree with rule #2 or the troll cage, I respect them. And I would expect everyone else to do the same. What I don't think is cool is for people who were regular attendees of the meets and VALUED members of the site, to come on after months of non-activity and all of the sudden have all these conflicts with the rules. The rules have not changed There has been 1 addition to them as an enforcement, which is the cage. Obviosly if people had been respectful of the rules "the Cage" would have never gone past the idea phase.

I don't post much, but I've been here since the begining. I've seen what the site has gone through. Every site like this will have growing pains, especially one that has grown as fast as this one. But the bottom line is that Troll made this site what it is. He has every right to say who can, and can not be here. He has every right to say in which direction the site needs to go. If he all of the sudden says that we can no longer use the word "the" on this site, guess what, he can do it. This is because this is his creation. As members we have every right to our own opinion. Those rights also include the right to leave if we no longer agree with the forum. This falls under the same heading as the whole censorship deal with Howard Stern. He has every right to do what he wants with his creation. And you have every right to listen or not if you don't like it.

I'll be the first to leave if I feel the site has no value to me. Some may respond to this little shpiell saying I'm a d*ck rider, and that I'm just saying that cuz he's my friend. My response to them is I don't care what you think. If you don't like the direction of the site, LEAVE. We MAY be sad to see you go. Personally Matt, we've hung out a few times, I always thought you and 'fracture' were a cool guys, I still do, but why would you come back after so long of not seeing you at the meets or on the site and start BS. Get this straight, I AM NOT BLAMING ALL OF THIS ON YOU 2. But I do think you guys have takin it a little farther than it needs to go.

That's it for me. I think I've used all my post priveledges for the month in one go.

/rant

i didn't know about the no cursing thing, so that was informative.

i have to say that i think the "troll cage" is a great idea. maybe you guys aren't used to people acting like jackasses, but take a look at what goes on over at srtforums.com and you'll understand why i would be in favor of it. i think people need to be held responible for their actions. if they act like an ass, there should be a penalty for it. while this is the internet, there is an understanding that people need to be respected. if you can't do that, there should be reprocussions.

i like the creative way that it's been handled here. rather than banning the offending party, they are given a chance to prove that they should be here. it's better than just a big fat ban stick going wild on the site.

I'm pleading the fifth on this one. However, I'm sick of the "if you don't like it, leave" mentallity. Our country was formed because our ancestors got sick of hearing that. So, they left and created America: Land of the free, home of the brave, all that good stuff. That being said, If somebody doesn't like something here they should be heard.

All I have to say if this was 100% true then we wouldn't have so much censorship and other typical political bs.

maybe the political bs was a product of censorship though. ;)

No one is saying you can't voice your opinion but you should do it in a calm rational way. If you start a post saying "This Forum Blows" that is not being mature and you are not gonna be taken seriously. If you started a thread titles "I disagree with certain things on this forum and here is why" you will be taken lot more seriously. I am not saying anything is gonna change but you will be heard. On a side not censorship is part of the world the government controls almost every aspect of our lives whether you can see it or not.

Jaster, i have no problem with what you said. However, i didnt just stop coming to the meets, i had a class the last many weeks of summer that was the same time, i still posted however, so i didnt just come back and start trouble.

I think some people are misinformed though. I am not trying to start a revolution over a swear filter or our inability to call someone out. Im also not trying to bitch about the rules, they are 4 simple easy to follow rules that are there for a reason. The reason i posted my initial thread was because i felt certain people were abusing their power and hindering our ability to voice our concerns. I posted up a concern on how the poll on the troll cage was locked, i thought that while it was poorly worded, it was still an attempt at contructive critisim. Then my rant was also locked when i never broke any of the rules, which ultimately led to this thread. I have since talked to bryan and have gotten the whole story and i can see why he locked the poll thread. I still dont agree with it but i can see how he was just fed up, it happens.

However, as you know since you were there from the beginning, like i was, this forum was started with the intent it was going to be user driven. Even talking to bryan and other mods today they still say they are not here to dictate the direction of topics. They are simply here to make sure we stay on topic, keep it repectful and stay in the general realm of cars, withholding OT for the last one. ALso, since i was here from the beginning, the very beginning... **** i started the A-1 Japenese steak house meet which ultimately led to all of this, the "if you dont like it then leave" option isnt viable. Everyone on here who knows me knows im not a ****talker or a trouble starter. Im just out for a good time and to enjoy my and other peoples cars. However, if i see something i disagree with i will make my voice heard. This is where me and bryan disagreed. I thought him locking the thread was wrong, he felt i should have made my concern private, i thought it was more of a public matter. we still dont see eye to eye on what is public and what is private but we have agreed to disagree. I think mods are needed but i dont think they should abuse the power. I know he is the creator, but that doesnt mean we dont have the right to question his moves. We are after all the reason this board exists, we are the members.
