Composition is nice, as well as the color and contrast... there's just nothing really unique about them... but I like.

The third picture is out of focus.

The buildings are a cool backdrop, but you should try focusing tighter on the subject(s). The framing shows that you wanted to include the skyline, but the pictures are very busy.

Also if you're shooting with the sun to your subject's back then you need to make sure you get a proper exposure of the subject. The background in your people pictures are properly exposed and the subjects themselves are slightly underexposed. You should brighten them up, which will result in a blown out background (overexposed). This is actually a good effect because it sets the subjects apart and will create a hairline.

I increased the exposure by .73, contrast by 2, and highlights by 8.5
here's the result

here's the original, for the side by side view.

It's not really something photoshop can fix, but the edit looks slightly better.

i think if it were me i would of gotten closer to the edge, and zoomed in a lil more and blurred the background. o and also shot from a different angle.

No I go to LaSalle University, the hoodie may look like temple but it's actually Montclair State University (its where my girlfriend went to school before she transfered)

The first picture of the girl is out of focus. It looks like you focused on the horse by accident. I do love this spot to over look the city!
To be honest the picture you did the side by side I would've taken the exposure down about a stop, take down the highlights because the sky and ground are already blown out and you are taking color away from the trees and color in the buildings. You would want to bump up your contrast but not so much that it'll distort detail.

Oh and also try to use a high f-stop and a slower shutter speed to try and preserve some color and get better detail.

How do you like your D50? I have a D60 with a few lenses and I like it a lot. I was using Canon until someone stole my camera bag and I had to start over...
