Oh Yes I Did! (bring on the hate)

So after my Takate TE37 I went with some CE28 but the initial color was to boring for me. So well I did something crazy. However in the end it didn’t come out as crazy as I thought it would. I bought a set of used 18x8 +38 Volk CE28 in Mercury Silver that to most people were basically in MINT condition minus a few tiny nicks on one wheel from a tire machine.

I had them mounted on the car and decided that not only was the fitment not as flush as I thought it would be even though it was spec wise compared to the rest of my wheels. I also thought the color was just boring after coming from my Takata TE37.

So what did I decided to do instead, and most of you will probably cal me crazy, is I had them powder coated chrome and then Summer Punch Candy overtop of that. Got some inspiration to do the color as it is similar to the color DMoney had on the WRX before starting one of the most epic builds of all time. The color is like a candy magenta that looks like a candy burgundy in the shade and inside and in direct sunlight it almost looks like the candy pink. Thanks to LPC for an amazing job on the wheels. Unfortunately being a candy color it is almost impossible to photograph perfectly as it has almost a pearl effect when trying to shoot it. However here are some pics. Yes of course I am ready for the hate so bring it all on. I was ready for it with the Takata TE37 and now lots of people tell me they miss them and can’t imagine the car without them. I do still have them and they are Not For Sale.

Please excuse the crappy edits as it is late but I wanted to get some pictures up and just ran them through auto edit which completely screwed up the car color for some reason. I am going to do full edits on the pictures but probably won’t be until like Monday or Tuesday of this week.

Camera phone amazing does the best job capturing the color of them in the shade.


Specs are 18x8 +38 and I am running 20mm spacers all around with them.

My ONLY gripe, and it's a small one...is the stock rear calipers lol.

I'm going to say I kinda like them, but will probably like them more in person simply because of the effect not being captured. Always good to mix it up from time to time!

yeah tiny rear caliper sucks but can't do anything about it and still match the front Spoon ones.

ha I was there to see the last day of their original color. I love your car and you've been doing awesome things with it since I first saw it. I don't really dig the results of this one personally, makes the car look less serious, but you're doing the car for you anyway, which has worked out great for you thus far.

Definitely won't hate on someone trying to do their own thing and be different but I think the original color looked cleaner. The only problem with the super bright pink wheels is it pulls your attention to them and not your beautifully styled car. Nice car regardless!

Well its def not my taste and normally I just puke without letting people hear my groans but since you did say bring the hate.....

The stickers make me sad, I admit I put them on my lunchbox when I was little but never understood covering a car in them. Especially that style. The tow hook makes me sad unless its tracked all the time and even so im still not a fan. Then the wheels while I think wheels can add a different look to a car I never understood the crazy colored wheels. It screams look at me look at me my mom didnt pay attention to me when I was younger. With all that said if you like it congrats I am sure tons of people on here dont like my car because it looks very stock.

I never got the point of odd colored rims. They only seem natural to me when there white black gold or silver. Or colors close to the ones listed.
