Forward deployed on a balistic missile defense U.S. Naval Destroyer...

Hey everyone. There may be a couple of you who remember me. If not, o well. I'm making this post because I wish it existed before I joined just to get an idea of what it's "really" like.

For anyone who knows me, skip this paragraph. I grew up in Allentown Pa, had a couple 350z's and naturally got hooked on the site. Joined the Navy in March of 2009. I lived in Chicago and Virginia Beach for a while (that's a completely different thread [ask for pix]), then I finally got stationed in San Diego, CA on 25Sep10 on the USS Benfold (DDG 65). I know there's at least one guy on TST who was stationed here (I've got my ESWS and couldn't find your porn in the overhead's in main 1/2). I deployed 15Jun12. It wasn't easy for my wife or I and I'm willing to answer any and all questions about that whole process.

So here I pick up. It's 1:40am July 3rd 2012 where I sit on the island of Palau in the South China Sea. It took two weeks to cross the entire Pacific. I drank pineapple wine in Hawaii and went swimming in the Marianas Trench (pix to come). I have a good ammount of time on my hands while floating around the Pacific that I plan on updating this.

I'm not scheduled to return to San Diego CA and my GORGEOUS wife until' after March 2013 so PLEASE ask about stuff you never had an opportunity to see "behind the curtains" and I'll do my best to answer questions and post pictures.

Please have fun at all the car meets that I WISH I could go to and don't hessitate to throw anything my way (It'll keep me occupied). God bless you all.

P.S. Please don't give me **** about OPSEC. I go to OPS/INTEL briefs nightly and I am VERY aware of what information I can share. I will NEVER risk my own safety or the safety of a forward deployed American BMD equipped Destroyer for the sake of an online blog so please refrain from any comments alluding to me doing anything along those lines.

I remember long months of no dad growing up. It's definitely hard on the families of those who serve, I can't imagine how it was for my father. Be safe and have fun. I just wanna see pics of the places you go.

Sent from under my car.

Do you guys/gals appreciate the random civilian buying you coffe, tea, lunch, etc? Everyone seems so humble, like I'm looney tunes or something-

I gotta high respect for all our soldiers, just feels right.

God Bless your wife for hanging in there, thats a strong lady!

I'll think of more questions soon.

I remember when I was in overseas, me and my buddies paid one of the ladies to suck a monkey's dick. We figured since she pooted a bird out of her snatch that she would go for it. The monkey got excited and screwed her face until she passed out. This is just one story and in one port visit...

What is crazy is that $20USD not only feeds the family, but the whole town! No wonder the hookers help tie the boat to the pier.

Sorry for not updating this as much as I anticipated. So far I've been to La Paz Mexico, Hawaii, Palau, and Bali. I'm working on getting pictures on the ship's computers (they're really strict about anything going on or off them) to upload them. I may just upload them when I get to somewhere with some Wifi. Yeah I'm Drftpretty's brother. He's just working and going to school and ****. He's got over 200k on that pos Audi. I can't say that I've payed a woman to blow a monkey (not my scene) but these Pacific Island countries just don't give a **** about ANYTHING. If you guys don't mind spending $1,200 and 1 day traveling, I would HIGHLY suggest going to Bali. It puts Vegas to shame. Period. It's the Australian equivalent to Cancun/Cabo. There are NO rules, no cover to any club, buffets for $5usd (48,000 rubia). You buy a cup for $15usd and you get FREE drinks ANYWHERE you go ALL day. My friends and I went white water rafting down some river in the jungle for 5 hours, had as much beer as we could drink and paid $50usd total. I've never experienced anything like what goes on in these countries. I've eaten monkey, drank beetle nut rum, swam over the Marianas Trench and in "extinct" volcano's, got tattoos at 4 in the morning all while having 10,000 more dollars in my account than when I started this trip. It definitely is an "experience" to say the least.

The good also comes with the bad. I miss my wife horribly. Things aren't looking good in this part of the world and I have 7 months to go. U.S. Warships are constantly being harassed and "tested" to the point where a supply ship sunk an Iranian speed boat just a couple days ago. I'll work on the pictures and getting on here a little more often. The only real reason I am on now is we crossed another time zone last night and I didn't know about it so I had an hour to kill before my watch. Hope you are all doing well, stay clean and always remember to live your lives a quarter mile at a time.

Bali sounds crazy.

I was on the Benfold during it's modernization in SD last year validating EOSS. Small world.

The Electro-Optical Sensor System? If so, which one? I own the Mk-46 OSS and the Shipboard Protection System. I might have seen you and not even known it. We're going back in the yards next year, might see you then.

I sometimes forget how many multiple meaning acronyms there are. lol.

Engineering Operational Sequencing System. They're the alignment/light off/casualty procedures found in those blue and red books at the engineering watch stations.

Yeah I know exactly what you're talking about. I really only use CSOSS unless it has to do with my skid overheating.
