Looking to get into the hobby in south jersey

Hey! Long time viewer, new member looking for a weekend toy after a decade of hybrid drought now that I am finally old enough to approach finding a weekend car with the one required ingredient: Cash I am willing to spend on something I might blow up.

When I was 17 I had a 89 240sx hatch that I somehow managed to throw a SR into. Unfortunately I had tuition to pay for so I only had fun for about four months. A week ago my 2012 Prius "weekend" car was murdered by a 17 year old on a learners permit who didn't understand what a stop sign was. So I have resigned myself to get a 240sx, RSti, ae86 hatch, 510, or 280z for the weekends instead and just deal with mpg change.

Hopefully reading threads and networking will help me spend my budget of 9000 on something more than a rusty shinny turd here in NJ/Philadelphia. It seems like the moment I get money all the cars I'd like sell.

I am curious to see what a "weekend" prius looks like.

Once it hit 140k in two years I convinced my boss to give me a company car so it is not a tracked out hybrid death machine like my wording made you suspect. I have autocrossed it a few times though!

I own an RX8 which makes a great weekend/autocross car. I use it currently as my DD so I am hoping to someday build an RSTI, you really cant go wrong going that route, the only trouble will be finding a proper car to start with that hasnt rusted to hell.

Picked up a 1 owner 81k s2000 for 10300 in amazing shape today. Came with invidia exhaust and under car aero/lip spoiler in a box never installed. Really hurt to do it but jeez that mileage and that price I couldn't pass it down. My only regret is convertible hell and that I won't be owning a ridiculously impractical drift death trap any time soon. Instead I got a cramped 2 seater that can't fit girls with a curvy booty
